CuteMX is a very similar alternative with a nice interface...if you're looking for the best search options check out Gnutella. I don't, however, remember the website addy's for them- just look around online, shouldn't be hard.

If your looking for MP3's try Napster. They also have some similarly named programs (like Gnapster and Xnapster) that you can used for other types of media, not just MP3's. Download the Napster software, but then download Napigator, which is a way to use Napster without using the Napster servers. Napigator's servers are not owned by Napster, so therefore you will never have to pay for any music, and there is no way they can block you...thats what I understand anyway. :)

This isn't a deal and should be moved to off topic or software.

Here is the website where you can get gnutella..

http://gnutella.wego.com/

I wonder if that looser Gene Kan is still claiming to be the author of it?? I assume the real author is mad....

Napigator is a program that lets you pick which server you want to be on. Some of the servers are owned by Napster (the ones that have Napster in the name of the server), others are not owned by Napster. However, Napster may charge membership fees to use their software once they start charging to download MP3s. I'm not sure if you'll still be able to use Napster software in coordination with non-Napster servers or not.

If you're looking for videos, I don't know of any programs that work like Scour. You can get videos on Napster through a program called Wrapster, but it is more complicated than Scour.

Gnutella seemed very slow to me, but some like it. I haven't used CuteMX, so I can't tell you about that.

The only problem with gnutella is that soooo many people are using it, and it gets real busy...

However, the good thing about it is that it is basically unstopable.. :)

If you have already downloaded the Napster Software, how can they prevent you from using it with Napigator, or the servers that are not owned by Napster? Just curious, I learn more each day about this stuff!
