Hey mechanics. I need your help.
Tonight I discovered that my low beams don't work but my high beams work. This is on both side and it was working last night. I don't think the bulbs are blown unless both of them popped at the same time.
I looked at the fuse and it seems that there IS a low beam fuse, but it's a huge one that's contained in small black block in the fuse box and thus you can't see whether it's blown or not. Is this something I can fix?

Low and high are separate so you can have the low go out and still have the highs. Go get a bulb and pop it in. See if it works.

But both of them die at the same time? That's very improbable...

Is it a Honda Civic? There is a recall on them for lights. Both going out at the same time is kind of fishy.

I think there is a recall...
Honda is recalling 440,000 Civics and Insights to address a problem with the cars' low-beam headlights.
The recall involves 2001-2002 model year Civics and 2000-2002 Insights.
Honda will ask owners to visit the nearest dealership, which will perform free repairs on the vehicles whether or not they show any potential damage.
Well...crap...so now what? What happens when I bring it in? Do I have to leave it there? Can I get a loaner car? Does it take more than one day?

Call the dealer and find out... At least call, give them your VIN, and see if the recall applies to your vehicle. Then you can talk about scheduling.

Yeah, I know mine is supposed to go in for fixing.. I just haven't done it. I have a 2001 Civic. And my Low Beams seem to fail a lot.. I should get it fixed :)

I wonder what happened - cause this just happened to me
was it both lights at the same time or the fuse?

There a dimmer switch on the steering column I bet that has gone bad. It should take 20 minutes to a 1 hour to replace. On the old cars of the 60s and before it was a button on the floor board!

I'm going to pick up my car today, but apparently they said the bulbs both burned out. I find that odd because I don't know how they can both go out at the same time...
