Hall of Fame coach Bob Knight told ESPN.com on Tuesday afternoon that he was trying to raise Michael Prince's confidence when he flipped his chin up during Texas Tech's game with Gardner-Webb Monday night in Lubbock.

Bob Knight controversy?

Bob Knight didn't cross the line. This time. But for Knight, it's always about what he's done before -- and what he might do next. Gene Wojciechowski weighs in on Knight.

And, if he were faced with the same situation Tuesday night against Arkansas-Little Rock, he said he would do the same thing.

"I'm sure there were some cases where I have been wrong but [Monday night] wasn't one of them," Knight said Tuesday. "I was trying to help a kid and I think I did.

"If I was confronted with the same set of circumstances I would do the exact same thing," Knight said.

Knight coached Tuesday's game without any discipline.

...And he'd do it again

I don't think he did anything wrong either... just the normal overreaction.

Heard about this on the boob tube. The parents and university side with Knight and didn't see anything wrong with it.

ESPN turned this into a big story.

ESPN turned this into a big story.
:stupid: I hate listening to their pundit shows where they complain about all the fuss and attention payed to, for example, T.O., or saying they don't know why the Bobby Knight incident was being given so much attention. Make me want to hurl my remote at the TV and scream, "YOU ARE ****ING SPORTS MEDIA!!! YOU ARE THE ONES GIVING IT BLANKET COVERAGE!!! YOU ARE THE ONES WHO WON'T STOP TALKING ABOUT IT!!! Stop and make us both happy!

My local news had the clip on a loop while the sportscaster was discussing it. They played it 23 times in a row. Pow. Pow. Pow. Pow. It was ridiculous.

I agree. I saw sportscenter that evening and Scott Van Pelt started the whole segment by saying Bobby Knight was only a few wins from catching Adolph Rupp and Dean Smith and hopefully he would be given a chance to surpass their win totals. Sportscenter then proceeded to show the clip in slow mo about 10 times.

Then, of course, it is the lead story for every radio broadcast on ESPN the next morning and also discussed by every college B-ball analyst on ESPN all day.
