A botched kidnapping ended with one of the assailants shooting himself in the groin, Wichita police said. The man had just stuck the gun back into his waistband when it fired, shooting him in the left testicle.

He cringed, causing the gun to fire again and strike him in the left calf.

When the shooting ended, the 23-year-old man managed to walk himself into the hospital for treatment, police said. He and his two accomplices, ages 18 and 20, were arrested for aggravated attempted kidnapping and conspiracy to obstruct justice.

The men were attempting to kidnap a teen in a dispute over stereo speakers, police said.

Er...safety lock? Don't follow you here..

Anyway, the idiot probably had his finger on the trigger the entire time. There's no way "cringing" could "make a gun fire again."

There's cringing, and then there's cringing after shooting yourself in the nuts.

He probably didn't even think about the gun in his hands as he bent over and squeezed his hands reflexively in shock.

Guy should get some kind of merit badge for being able to walk himself anywhere after that.

I mean put the darn thing on safe before tucking it in.

Ah...gotcha

Anyway, IMHO, the most useful guns don't have external safeties (Glocks, etc.) Especially if used for self-defense (obviously this guy wasn't doing so), it's a real pain to have fine-motor coordination for flipping off a safety when you're under stress.
