View Full Version : Pic of The Day: Point Loma Lighthouse

The lighthouse dates from around 1865 and was one of the first light houses built along the west coast. While they allow tourists to enter the lighthouse, only on two days do they let people climb the narrow, steep ladder to the light itself. November 15th is one (the other is in August) and I was there merely by coincidence. You can see a couple of people up there in this shot. They show just how small the light is- it seems bigger. The sun is about to dip below the horizon- which you can tell by the shadows of the fence on the building and the glow. If you do not see the photo, try to refresh.

That's like a 2 minute Drive from my Office! :) .. We go there every couple weeks for a Reenlistment or something else like that, we always get there before 9.. because it's free. But they sometimes get a little angry at us :)

Really like this one. You captured the lighting just right to cast the shadows, & add to the feeling of peaceful solitude.
