it pours. I've been unemployed for almost 4 mo. I just started a new job that I got through a head hunter. It's a 6 mo contact job, and of course i've been there for almost a week and I got a phone call today from another job that I applied for.
I'm torn what to do, I guess i'll call and see what they have to offer. I'm not sure how I feel about my current job. It's a 20 min commute and probably would be less money than the other. Ugh...

Are you through a temp service now? I worked through one for a while and hated knowing that someone else was making money for nothing when I was doing all the work. The least you could do is go for an interview and then have more info to make a decision with. Would you get better benefits to offset the potentially lower pay? A permanent position would definately offer a sense of job security.

:agree:

You owe it to yourself to at least have the interview. If the job offer is respectable, you should probably take it. Job security alone prevails here.

Good luck!

Thanks all. I did call them for a "pre-interview", and hopefully i'll get a call for a real interview. I am working through a temp agency, the job i'm on now is a 6 mo contract to hire position (i'm not sure what the 6 mo contract means to me if I choose to leave). The money isn't all that great, and if this other position comes calling and offers better money I might take it.

as a temp it is understandable that you would leave for a full-time job. They can terminate you at will, and you can leave at will. Though if you do get the job, be sure to tell your current company, they might counteroffer.

Your situation is NSS in my eyes.

They probably low balled you in the first place knowing you were unemployed. Your temp agency's big payday is when your current employer pays the agency to have you full time. I'd guess if you get 2 offers on the table you'll be able to undoubtedly benefit even if you choose to keep your current position.
