From what I understand, without your SSN number, they cannot do anything to your credit. And if someone sends something without you ordering it, it is yours. You don't have to pay for it.
But again, I am no expert.

Seems to me that you can keep the free pair as long as send you back the other two, and then you don't owe anything.

They are harrassing me, threatening to send my bill to a collection agency if I don't pay in seven days. I filed a complaint here http://www.easternpa.bbb.org/commoncomplaint.html

Did they send the stuff via a trackable source (i.e. UPS, FedEx, etc..) if not tell the collection agency that you didn't receive the item and tell them to prove to you that you received the package.

I have no idea what they sent or how, we recall getting nothing. I called them. they backed off immediately said to disregard the bills, they will take care of it. What a scam. BTW, They have my correct address, but the name is similiar to ours but wrong.

I did the same thing. I kept the freebie, returned the others, however I received a bill stating I didn't pay 2 months later. Im going WTF, I sent it back with confirmation tracking too. The thing is...you should just pay the $3.95, since it costs that much to ship it back to them. It was a waste of money and time.

hehe, reminds me of my experience with them a couple years ago
i remember writing up a complaint @ complaints.com or something and every now and then i still get an email from someone saying my post was helpful (but i dun remember what i typed)
whatever i did, they ended up sending me a letter saying they have closed my account and disregard the bill

In the US, I believe that you get to keep any unsolicited products mailed to you, free of charge. Contact the Postmaster General, and complain about possible mail fraud.

i know in the past, when you sign up for hte free pair, there was fine print stating they will whip you additional pairs for a cost.
