It's between a new 2006 TL or a BMW certified 2006 325i with 10200 miles. It's impossible to tell by it's appearance that it is not new, both have automatic, the BMW has the premium package, both have leather and bluetooth and both are the same price $30,000. Any thoughts?

At least give a little more info. Do you do any winter driving? How long do you plan to keep the car? How much does acceleration and cornering matter? What about brand/image? How much do you value reliability and how do you feel about depreciation?

I don't at all care about brand or names if a no name car came up with good specs I would be interested. I plan on keeping any car we get for a long time, my current cars are a 1989 Acura with 160,000 miles, a Dodge cargo van with 290,000 miles (original owner, it was my fathers purchase in 1975) and a Honda Odyssey 2002 with only 20,000 miles.

BMW - hands down and I am going to assume that it is a CPO which means you will have the 100k mile warranty. Additionally the BMW maintenance is not going to really cost that much more. All of your oil changes are covered by the factory for the duration of the original warranty.

BMW...Acura's ain't that cheap to maintain. Besides, nothing drives like a BMW. However, if you are looking for more room. TL may be the way to go.

I really wasn't happy with the torque steer on the TL it's way overpronounced. besides it's just a honda...

what's a good site to do research on cars? I used to like Edmunds, but now that site is way too bulky with stuff.

As a long time BMW owner I vote for the 325 especially if it is CPO.

Yeah, what is the deal with edmunds? their site loads so slow cuz of all the ads and scripts. Browsing through there is becoming really painful.
Right now, I use KBB and Cars.com as an alternative.

COP BMWs rock. Go for it. Don't worry about maintenance costs, etc. When the original warranty runs out, you can buy for $800 or so an extention for the maintenance. And if not, the parts are pretty cheap, and if you can work on cars or know and INDEPENDENT German-car auto-shop, NOT THE DEALERSHIP, and trust me, there are zillions of them, often owned by BMW CCA types, even labor is cheap.

And nothing drives like a RWD car, and no RWD car drives like a BMW. :)

Read my previous rants if you wish. :)

H <---loves his '03 loaded 325i. 53k miles and going strong.

PS, despite what the maintenance schedule says, and despite what the oil-viscosity/engine "how hard you drive" computer says, change your oil every 7500 miles or so. Get a good extractor, like a "Mity Vac" and with $8 in parts (filter and o-ring) the process takes 15 minutes, and is super clean. You even end up with the used oil in the original new oil bottles. :) The 15k mile thing is the absolute longest that the synthetic oil is rated for, and I've seen even non-BMW engines screwed at 80k miles or so due to 15-20k mile oil changes. And your car will love you for it.
