View Full Version : university parking ticket
I got a ticket for parking in a spot that was designated as "reserved". I'm trying to think of something worth trying as an appeal. Can anyone share their successes with parking ticket appeals? The parking services dept. here is fairly new, so please don't hesitate to share any ideas.
On a side note, does anyone know what describes a "properly signed" parking restriction sign?

Am I missing something here?
If the spot is marked as a reserved spot for cars with special parking permits only...then I don't think you were supposed to be parked there.

i don't get it, u parked in a spot that was clearly marked "reserved" AND next to a sign that tells you it's reserved parking only?
not to sound cold or anything, but .... um ... yeah, good luck!

Tell them you're blind.

Well, my only suggestion would be NOT to include that photo in any correspondence with the campus police!

Yeah, That photo definitely means it's not "Poorly Marked" lol. That's clear as Day. 24 hours Reserved! Pay the ticket and don't do it again.
The reason I asked the second question is this: http://www.google.com/search?q=parking+restriction+not+properly+signed&hl=en&lr=&safe=off&start=30&sa=N
if you look at the results they are from the UK, but I have seen parking signs here in CA that had a license number or permit somewhere on the sign. That is what I think the U.S. equivalent is. Yes?

You're hosed. Be happy they didn't tow you, 'cause THAT is a hassle.

Tell them you're blind.
No no, better yet: tell 'em you shouldn't be held accountable 'cause you were blind AND DRUNK.

here's what you do...paint the sign. or plant a tree right in front of it. and say you couldn't see it. :)
*i don't recommend you do to anything just said.

as someone who has experienced the wrath of parking enforcement in full, i'm gonna have to agree with everyone here.
unfortunately, i think you're assed out. and yes, the picture would most definitely work against your case, not for it. not only is the spot on the curb marked "Reserved," the sign also states that it's "Reserved" and that you may only park there if you have the designated parking permit.
if you had the appropriate parking permit, and you had it displayed in maybe a less than conspicuous place on your dashboard or something, and the parking enforcement guy maybe just glanced over it and gave you the ticket in error, then you MIGHT have a case.
otherwise, i think you're gonna have to pay up. how much is the ticket anyway?

why is it look like ur in the middle of nowhere... kinda odd campus shot don't u think?

You should have driven over the curb and parked on the other side of the sign. :)

Tell them that you are dyslexic, and you thought that this spot was for people who were born in the town of Devreser.

Tell them you had a hole in the bottom of your shoe and it was to far to walk in the rain! Then walk into court in your new Italian leather shoes and show them off!
Then pay all the court costs and the fine too.
Just pay the ticket and forget about doing it again

At my school, failure to pay your parking tickets resulted in failure to receive credit for your classes until you had done so.
(which doesn't mean much if you don't go to school there. It's not a city ordinance, so it's not enforceable off campus.)
Flirt with the lady behind the counter and see if they'll let you off easy. Say you didn't realize what you did because you were busy attending to some orphans in the back seat or something.

:heh: it must suck being new meat and asking a questing here. you guys are cruel!

Tell them you were either going to crap your pants, or park there and run to the nearest restroom?

just write a sob story....doesn't hurt to try they might let you go. 1 time get out of jail card

I've gotten out of most of my campus parking tickets but I never parked in a reserve one . If it clearly says 24/7 than you don't have a choice but ask for a break which you won't get. The university parking office is inflexible.
