Continuing our theme of videos, here is White Christmas, from the "A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector" album. Which is awesome, even if Phil is a creep. The Wall of Sound still was masterwork.

I just love those old girl groups.
And since it's been oddly warm and snowless here, a white christmas would be just fine. Just...don't snow till after I don't need to drive to work.
Saturday was highly annoying. I'm working on a review for Plextor, and was just having a hell of a time putting words on virtual paper. Then I was having a conflict from Roxio 9 that took some digging for. Then my Wii Sports disc got all scratched up so I spent forever regrinding that disc till it worked. Then My Wiimotes wouldn't sync. Then I broke my Wiimote cover, which you need if like me, you sweat. Then I pretty much felt, at the end of the day, that I had been successful at nothing I tried.
I was an unhappy camper.
Sunday is better. Sunday I for sure for sure this time I mean it dammit finished Xmas shopping. And I will not shop again, as it's just too friggin crazy out there. I played some games. I chilled. I ignored my review, because I needed to back away from it. See, I have a limitation on how many images and how much text I can use, and frankly I don't see the point in doing a review that's nothing but benchmarks. I find myself not even reading them anymore, and I'm trying to approach this review in a completely different way. A way that will likely tick off the geekier folks, but I've come to the conclusion that there are more than enough reviews out there for people that glom over numbers. I want to get to a more user friend place.
See, in a magazine, you do get SOME numbers, but mostly they have a space limitation, so they concentrate on the user experience. And let's face it, 99 percent of the world cares much more about that then about raw numbers. I want to talk to them. But it's hard changing even my own mindset on that, so it's making the review a bit of a challenge. But I will get there. I'm shooting for the end of the week, since I'm on vacation starting Thursday.
But let's face it, how many people really look into how well a DVD drive rips music? They all do a decent enough job at this point. You buy a DVD burner, you want to know it works, that it will burn your movies or your data, that it won't sound like phase cannon in the 40 watt range, etc. My mom ain't going to care if it is 2 seconds faster using obscure media you can't pick up at Best Buy.
At least, that's my thought. We'll see.
Anyway, it's a short week for me, but that doesn't mean I don't gotta work.
You go have a day.
