I emailed our personnel director a few days ago to see how much vacation time I had left. By my calculation I should've had no more than 2 or 3 days. Her response: 23.25 days. I have no idea how I ended up with more than a month of vacation.

Should I complain?

I wouldn't complain. I'd ask to verify, maybe tell her you thought you had a smaller amount of time, without specifying any actual amount.

Could she have mistaken hours for days?

that's exactly what i was thinking... after all, 23.25 hours is about equivalent to three working days, right?

I have to use up all my vacation time by the end of the year. So my last day of work for 2006 was last Thursday. :D

They did confirm it, I have 23.25 DAYS. I have no idea why or how. For the first year I know it was supposed to accrue over time for a total of 14 per year. Perhaps after the first year (which for me was in September) they give it in a lump sum? That's the only thing I can think of.

Hmm I guess it's the "don't look a gift horse (23 days off) in the mouth! Gratz on the extra days!
