Lifted from slick deals.
1: WHAT IS SERO?
SERO is a heavily discounted plan for friends and family of Sprint employees. There are currently 3 different plans available:
(INDIVIDUAL PLANS ONLY)
1: Sprint Employee Referral Offer 500 for $30 per month
2. Sprint Employee Referral Offer 1250 for $49.99 per month
3. Sprint Employee Referral Offer 2500 for $99.99 per month
It will show up on your bill as a Fair and FLexible plan, and not as a SERO plan.
THERE ARE NO FAMILY PLANS ON SERO!!!!!
2: WHAT IS INCLUDED WITH SERO?
- Unlimited Sprint Vision or Power Vision (Vision for Vision phones, Power Vision for Power Vision phones)
- Unlimited Mobile to Mobile
- Unlimited Sprint Picture Mail
- Unlimited Roaming
- Unlimited Nights & Weekends (Starts @ 9PM for those who signed up before 12/003/06, 7 PM for those who signed up after 12/3/06)
- Nationwide Long Distance
- Crystal Clear Calls
- Voice Mail
- Caller ID
- Call Waiting
- Numeric Paging
- Three-Way Calling
3: HOW MUCH LONGER WILL SERO BE AVAILABLE?
We are not sure. In the past they have extended it each time the current offer expired. This is what the official word is right now: Offers end 12/31/06 for both the special public offer and Sprint Nextel employee referrals.
4: HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR SERO?
There are two ways of doing this.
1: The easiest way is to do it directly through the SERO website. Go to www.sprint.com/sero and use the e-mail address [email protected] with a valid zipcode (TY dubs29). Choose a phone/plan that works best for you, and submit your order.
2: You can also sign up for a regular plan in any Sprint store, and hope that a retention specialist is willing to convert it to a SERO plan for you. This is definitely the harder way of doing it, and takes persistence on your part to be able to pull it off. To talk to a retention specialist call Sprint (800-974-2221) and ask for retentions. Another #: 866-250-2221. DO NOT DO THIS AFTER BUYING A PHONE FROM BB, CUSA, etc or you will get hit with a collections bill for the full price of the phone!
3: For those of you who already are on Sprint: you can email Sprint eCare at [email protected] and tell them you wanted to switch to SERO in store but they couldn't do in store and advised you to contact eCare with this code "#C SEROF&FEVDO$30.00". YMMV.
5: DO I HAVE TO SIGN A CONTRACT TO GET ON A SERO PLAN?
Yes, you have to sign a 2-year contract. There is no way around that.
6: IF I ALREADY AM A SPRINT CUSTOMER, CAN I CONVERT IT TO A SERO PLAN AND KEEP MY NUMBER?
Here is what Sprint has to say about that:
The Sprint Employee Referral Offer is for new customers only. However, existing Sprint customers who are out of contract and renewing a Two-year Subscriber Agreement are also eligible for this offer. Sprint Employees who are currently employee liable and receive the 23 percent discount are eligible to swap their plan by calling the Employee Accounts Group at (888) 876 8381.
Unfortunately, new Sprint customers are able to port their number from their existing carrier to Sprint when they sign into the plan but existing customers cannot port numbers from an existing Sprint account. Therefore, existing customers still in a subscriber agreement are required to activate a new line of service with a Two-year Agreement and are issued a brand new phone number. Furthermore, an existing customer may cancel the account early but a termination fee is required if the existing account is within the contract period.
An existing customer who has fulfilled the term agreement is treated like a brand new customer and is issued a brand new phone number.
Some have had success keeping their phone number by first porting it to a pre-paid phone, and then porting it back to their new SERO phone. Others have had some success with being persistent with customer care.
7: WHAT REBATES ARE AVAILABLE? WILL I BE ABLE TO GET ALL OF THEM?
The rebates that are available vary on the phone that you have chosen. Here are some rebates that have been discussed at length in the other thread:
* If you go to www.amazon.com and search for your Sprint phone, it will show you the most recent rebate for your particular phone. This is a Sprint rebate and you do not have to have bought your phone from Amazon to qualify. Print it out and send it in. No original UPC required.
* There is also a rebate available from Kellogg. Go to your local grocery store and find a kellog cereal box with nascar cars on the box. This one has a $75 rebate for Sprint phones printed on the inside of the box. This one requires the original UPC. More info HERE (http://www.rcwilley.com/rebate_pdf/sprint_kellogg_09-30-06.pdf). Copy of rebate form HERE (http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/7376/nextelrebatenx6.gif).
* Corporate liable rebate right HERE (http://www.sprint.com/business/resources/CorporateMailinRebate.pdf).
* Examples of rebates out there (expires 1/13/07) HERE (http://www.sprintpcs.com/pages/AU62004-1370.pdf) and HERE.
Check your rebate status HERE (http://www.sprintrebates.com/track/sprintpcs/index.jsp).
Remember, most rebate forms say rebate is available for plans $34.99 and up. This does NOT apply to SERO plans. You are good to go on any of the rebates with any SERO plan!!
8: WHAT IF MY REBATE GETS DENIED?
Dont worry. It seems that most of us had our rebates denied at first. A simple call to the rebate center will take care of this. It may just be the easiest call you make on your quest to a perfect plan on SERO. Here is how you make your call (thank you b0n3):
call 1-800-477-4127
wait through ALL of the prompts (including for english .. for spanish .. blah blah blah)
when asked for number, type 555 555 5555(random)
if this is correct, press 1
else, press 2
if you have already mailed in your rebate, press 1
if it's been longer than 14 days .. please press 1
that should get you a live person

9: I HATE MY PHONE AND/OR SERO. HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO CANCEL OR RETURN MY PHONE?
EFFECTIVE JUNE 18, 2006, Sprint customers will be allotted 30 days to return equipment, accessory and software accessory purchases to qualify for a refund as well as 30 days to cancel Sprint service without penalty waived Sprint Early Termination Fee (ETF) and qualify for a credit of the activation fee (when applicable). inPhonics only has a 14-day return!!!!!!
10: WHAT PERKS ARE AVAILABLE?
The perks we all have been able to get vary from person to person. In order to get in on them you have to be persistent, and keep calling/writing to Sprint CS and/or ecare until you find someone who is willing to do it for you. If you get denied over and over again, bury those notes on your account by calling about some technical issues. Those notes will then be on the top of your account, and you get a fresh start. Some perks that are available are:
1: 7 PM nights/weekends NO LONGER A PERK, FREE WITH ALL SERO PLANS!!
2: 6 PM nights/weekends
3: unlimited text messages
4: free 500 text messages
5: free 300 text messages
6: FIMF
7: 10% loyalty discount
8: 5% to 10% loyalty discount - pretty easy
9. 15%, 20%+ - medium hard
After you get your plan the way you want it, email eCare and ask them to email you back with the specifics of your account. Have them put everything in writing and save this for future use if needed.
11: WHO DO I CONTACT TO ASK FOR FREE PERKS?
You can call *2 from your phone and ask CS, or dial that same number and ask for retentions. Another great way to ask for free perks is eCare. To e-mail eCare, sign into your account on the Sprint website. Then click the 'Contact Us' link on the top of the page, then follow the 'E-Mail' link to reach eCare. It is suggested that you type out your message ahead of time on Word/Wordpad/Notepad so you can simply copy, paste, and send your message (as the eCare page times out fairly quickly).
12: WHAT DO I SAY WHEN I ASK FOR A PERK?
You probably just need to get creative here, and think of a good reason for wanting and asking for that specific perk. Some ideas:
I am now on TMobile, and have nights starting at 6 PM. I am trying out Sprint, but am disappointed that it has the 9:00 PM night time. Can you add the 6 PM night time for free to keep me as a customer? (you can give this same argument for any of the perks)
I keep getting unsolicited calls from people I do not know, costing me valuable minutes. To keep me as a customer, could you please add FIMF?
When I signed up for Sprint, I was told it included text messaging. When I checked on this though, I found out it does not. Text messaging is an important feature to me. Can you please add free text messaging to my account to keep me as a customer?
Remember: if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Many of us have had to call over 20 times before a perk got added.
I've never had sprint as a carrier, but this deal was too good to pass up, since my contract ended in december I'm ready to get this deal!!!
Example:
Blackberry 8703e phone $199.99 with the $30 for 500 mins anytime, unlimited nighttimes and weekends starting at 7pm and free powervision (email/web browsing) + $100 sprint rebate makes for a great deal! 99.99 + tax AR.
They have other phones too like the treo line that have some additional rebates.
