Normally I hate Boise State because they are a rival to Fresno State in football and I believe that we only beaten them once. However seeing as they are a WAC team I am sooooo proud of them for winning a BCS bowl and causing people to question the current system. If Ohio State wins, then Boise and Ohio State are the ONLY undefeated teams :) The only thing I will say about Boise St is that even though they OWN Fresno State. Fresno State plays a TOUGHER schedule.

What a great, great game last night. Goes to show that you should never turn the TV off before things are over. OU with the pic for a TD and then the final two plays: hook-and-ladder and Statue of Liberty! Awesome stuff...
Congrats to BSU. Good to see them knock off one of the big boys.

Yeah, Even being an Oklahoma fan, Oklahoma played a really bad game. But their defense has been pretty bad for a while now, the Boise State coach was just the one that was smart enough to catch on watching the videos.
He must have seen the fact that trick plays almost ALWAYS work on OU. :) Sigh. Oh well.. Good job boise, maybe it will bring down the BCS at some point!

Spectacular game (thanks to the phantom PI calls). BSU deserved that win and would be fun to watch against other BCS teams.

Both pass inteferences were bs imo. Especially that one late in the 4th that put the sooners in scoring range. The defender has an equal right to go after the ball and they were both going after it.
It should have been a no call, but I guess they wanted to make it up to them (again) for the Oregon game or something.

The only way to make that game up to OU would have been to hand them the game ball and award them the win. OU got hosed biiiiig time vs. Oregon...

They would have still came up short to FL and probably lost to an even better team in whatever bowl they played. Ok had too many holes. BSU wouldn't have done that to MI or FL or SC or Ohio though it would be fun to watch.
I do think that they should have just voided that OR game. Took it off the books and not let it affect their records 1 way or another.
It's not a question, it's a fact that they were robbed.

That BSU game had to be one of the most awesome finishes I have ever seen. The game was good but the finish was spectacular. I was about to shut the TV off after the pick-off return for a TD by OU (hey, I was tired since I was partying at the Gator Bowl all day) but I am glad I didn't b/c I would have missed one amazing comeback.

Considering UofM got their arses handed to them by USC I think if BSU would have played them they would have beaten them too. Personally, after watching the BSU game, they most likely could beat FLA and USC too and possibly OSU. I think FLA can win the NC because the have a chip on their shoulder and everyone has told OSU they are going to win it but FLA has been prime for another loss for quite a while.

The only thing I would like to see Boise State do is what Fresno State Does. Pat Hill says he will face any team, any time, any place. And has. Fresno Almost beat UCS last year. Lost to a bunch of Pack Ten Teams this year, including Cal I think... Boise State is in a good position to start facing the level of teams that Fresno State does now. Go WAC!

Unfortunately we'll never know. A lot of teams start off slow or hit a bump or 2, but are playing very well at the end of the year. Oklahoma isn't one of those teams and isn't a good comparison to SC or any of the other top schools this year. I want to see it, but I would put money on SC, FL, MI, OS, LSU, etc. vs BSU. Especially now that we have seen some of their trick plays.

Boise State only moved up to Class 1-A football a couple of years ago (1996) so they have not really had much chance to put top schools on their schedule yet. Most schedules are set several years in advance. On the other hand, top teams can be reluctant to play a good team outside their non- conference so that they can get more "guaranteed" wins.
I saw an ad saying you could watch the whole game again online but forget where it was.

Definitely one of the greatest endings I've seen in football in a long time. Trick plays rule, especially when it's OT in a bowl game... all or nothing was a gutsy call! Got to respect that!
So much for UofMich crying about not being in the BCS championship, they were humiliated by USC. This game was boring compared to the finish of Boise v. OU(ch!)

It would be interesting to see a non BCS conference team end up competative for the national title.. give it a couple of years and I think BSU will have the team that can play at that level.
I'm an Oklahoma fan, but Oklahoma hasn't been at that level since Mike Stoops left to be a Head Coach.
They need a Real Defensive Coordinator.

Wow...did you have one too many at the Gator Bowl? BSU didn't beat a premier team, they beat Oklahoma. And this Oklahoma team wasn't even particularly good- their QB got booted before the season started, and Peterson broke his clavicle. Plus, their defense was pretty bad- especially by Stoops standards.
Ohio State is the best team in the country, even though it pains me to admit that. Florida's chances are slim, but I'll be rooting for them only because Ohio State earned a higher spot on my sh*t list back in 2002. Ideally, they'll discover some way for both teams to lose.

I think it was on the Fox website somewhere.
And I loved how BSU's coach realizes with about 3 minutes left in the game that they don't have to save any trick plays for later in the season...and they end up running gimmick plays on about 7 of their last 10 plays. The game was just fun to watch.

Well, FLA almost lost to Vandy and S. Carolina so there is a good chance that Boise could beat them.
Who did UofM beat? They played a great game against their rivals, OSU, but they beat nobody else really worth mentioning. And the answer to your question - No, ND doesn't count - who the hell did they beat to be ranked as high as they *were*? Plus UofM almost lost to Ball St.
USC had a win against Cal which was good but who else did they beat? ND? - don't think so - see comment above.
OSU beat an overrated UofM. I will give them some credit for beating UofM only because UofM is their big rival and that is always a tough game. They did beat TX but their other 2 wins against "ranked" teams were against Iowa and Penn St who are no longer ranked and Iowa isn't even receiving votes anymore.

Now you are really reaching... There are legit wins on all the top teams schedules. I think you are looking to outsmart the experts, but they seem to have it right this year.
Ohio State is undefeated and beat their rival in a close game. Michigan would have been #1 if they had won that close game. After the Michigan loss, SC would have played Ohio St for a National title if they had beat their rival. Instead both MI and SC ended up in the Rose bowl leaving Ohio state as the clear #1 team in the country and giving the #2 spot to the gators. I don't want to hear about the SEC because SC (Pac10) smoked Arkansas (SEC) 50-14. That's about as well as any SEC team could do against Arkansas and we don't run up the score at the end.
So far SC and LSU look the best imo, but Ohio State or the Gators could change that perception. But if the Gators get loose then there will be no doubt that rankings were right.

You miss the whole point. If Boise can win out then why couldn't they beat some of these top teams. UofM beat nobody worth talking about. If Vandy and S. Carolina almost beat FLA and Boise is better than both of those teams then there is a chance they could beat FLA. I gave props to OSU for beating their rival b/c even if the 2 rivals are mismatched it is almost always a tough game. Bottom line is that Boise state should have had a chance to play in the national championship.

BSU barely beat/surprised oklamhoma, a team not at same level as ohio state, by running trick plays. Those plays were really fun to watch, but can seriously backfire especially against teams that are looking for them. I don't think they have a shot, but will get chances in the next few seasons to play in a title game if they improve their team/chedule.

Thanks big guy. After Dowdell missed the floater at the end of regulation, I figured it was over. Tech had blown a decent second half lead...didn't think they had enough gas to get the win in OT. I ended up going to the park with the kids and missed it. :faint:

Disagree with the SC vs SEC comparison. SC smoked Arkansas partially because Arkansas was playing their 3rd string QB and McFadden, the runner up for the Heisman, either didn't play or was very banged up.
Not saying Arkansas would have won, but it was close at halftime and having no sustained offense in the 2nd half killed Arkansas.
Florida would give SC fits because of the speed on their D line and secondary. Michigan didn't have the speed on the defensive side of the ball to match up with SC's athletes, much like OSU didn't have the athletes on either side of the ball to match up with UF's athletes.

SC should have passed OSU, based on the team's performances in their respective games.
In all reality, does it matter though? The season is over. I don't see a big difference in recruiting or booster money based on a 2 or 3 spot difference in the polls...

That is one of the problems with the BCS... Notre Dame is worthless . They get bowl games and rankings just because they are Notre Dame. Notre Dame is the Paris Hilton of college football. They look good, but they lay down for all the other teams.

Boise St finished where they should have. They barely beat a decent but not great Oklahoma team that was ranked #8 in their bowl game.
