Hi all,

I realllly want the new Dell 24" Widescreen 2407WFP (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4335)

Any idea if it will drop below $500 (after coupon, of course) any time soon? Or should I not bother and go for another monitor?

Thanks!!

Sure, it'll drop below $500. Who knows when, but I'll throw a guess out there - by the end of this year. It's $629 in the Dell outlet right now, so it's not much further to $500.

Just checked and they're already $599. Guess that means 500 in a month!!

Huh, would you look at that. Down to $599 in what, 7 hours? Maybe it'll be before the end of the year!

Are these refurbished items in inventory trustable? do they come with a warranty?

Also, are there ever coupons/discounts at the outlet site?

refurbs are usually tested more rigorously than new. They have to be if they were returned for some sort of malfunction.

Refurb means returned. That could be because it had some possible defect or just that someone didn't want it. They cannot sell it as new anymore so they inspect it to make sure it is working properly before they resell it. I could not find specific information about Dell's warranty on refurb LCDs but often a refurb has a shorter warranty than a new item.

Yes & yes:

90 Day Limited Warranty
Dell Refurbished Monitors comes with a standard 90 day warranty. You can return your unit for repair or call in for technical support for up to 90 days from you date of purchase.

From time to time you might catch something - they have free shipping on all monitors right now.

24's will probably start coming down in price a lot faster than we think with the release of the 27's.

My price guesstimate for a $500 24" will be St. Pat's day.

I also watching this monitor and the 30" Dell... They just launched the 27", but right now it is cheaper than the new 27"...

I think both the 24"/30" have been out for more than 1 year, so I would think prices would be coming down about now...

I'm trying to figure out if I do it now, or just wait a little longer... (Also Apple did not launch new monitors, so need to drop the price yet?)

Be careful on the 30" - for some silly reason, the ONLY connector on that thing is DVI. With the 24", you get DVI, VGA, component, composite & S-video. I'd actually go with the 24" over the 30 or 27. If you actually need the real estate, go with two 24s - still cheaper than one 27".

My 24" dell monitor is the single greatest investment I've ever made in terms of computer peripherals.
