They suck A___! Just got out of the hospital on tuesday after they put a tube around it so my kidney could drain. When i move or laugh it hurts. I have 2 of them. The one on the left side is 7mm x 5 mm and the other one is small enough to pass through.
Iam taking lortab and its not helping with the pain. This all started becase i was wrestling with my son and i hurt my hip and the next day my stomach started to hurt real bad. I went to the doc office and then to emergancy room. Then all was found out.:dead: :dead:

Sorry for your pain. I've heard that passing a kidney stone is one of the most painful things that a guy can experience.
I've never heard of kidney stones being blasted with a laser, but they do blast them with sound pulses (focused on the stone from many different angles so the sound "peaks" right on the stone). But if a stone is small enough to pass, they'll often just let it do that.

The first one sounds really big. Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when Kramer passed one. *wince*
i'm in pain just reading about it.

YEOW!
from Wikipedia:
"On October 19, 2005, while working on the set of Boston Legal, actor William Shatner was taken to the emergency room for lower back pain. He eventually passed a kidney stone, but recovered and soon returned to work. Shatner sold his kidney stone in 2006 for $75,000 to GoldenPalace.com. The money will go to a housing charity."
wtf...? If they'll buy a kidney stone, then why not sell other things? That man is flushing thousands of dollars down the toilet every day.

just got back from the doc's office. Tuesday I'am going to get the tube removed, then he is going to break it up and remove it. The other one is still in the kidney for know.
Thanks everyone.

feel better soon!
:stupid:
One bad thing about kidney stones is that the pain is non-positional. You just can't find a comfortable position, but I've seen patients writhe like hell to find one. Opioids work, but often to take enough of them to kill that kind of pain makes for bad side effects (GI mainly) and rebound pain. So be careful with the lortabs.
