Wrong, bad deal. I had McAfee System Works installed on my personal PC 3 years ago. When I activated it the software initialized my hard drive and I lost absolutely everything. I have spoken to other folks who have had similar issues with McAfee. I called McAfee and they did not deny that this couldn't happen.
I won't touch McAfee products with a 50 foot pole when it comes to installing them on PC's, I stick to Norton products. I highly recommend that you do not install any McAfee products on your system.

I had McAfee installed a few years ago (recently uninstalled it) and it didn't corrupt my hard drive or anything. BUT, it noticeably slowed down my computer, which was quite annoying during start-up. My computer now runs a lot faster without the anti-virus software. (I might be taking a risk, but I don't never open spam or email from people/sources I don't recognize, and I never click on ads or pop-up ads, and I use common sense when I am online.)

SDGal, there are lots of free anti-virus programs out there that you can use...that won't bog your system down. AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/) is a good one, maybe you should try it out.

I'll look into it. Thanks!
