Girlfriend was 8 weeks pregnant but we lost the babies (twins). Needless to say it's been a tough couple of weeks.

I am sorry to hear about your loss.
Be there for each other. It might take some time to get through this and you will need each other.

It sucks but 25% of pregnancies end within 8 weeks LMP (~10 weeks pregnant)
If it helps:
Chromosomal abnormalities are found in more than half of embryos miscarried in the first 13 weeks. A pregnancy with a genetic problem has a 95% chance of ending in miscarriage. Most chromosomal problems happen by chance, have nothing to do with the parents, and are unlikely to recur. Simply wasn't meant to be. You're young; you and your wife will have many opportunities to be parents. Stay strong...

Oguevarra, wanted to apologize here in the forum for my slip earlier. I misspoke in my post, didn't mean to insinuate anything. Hope you didn't take it the wrong way...
Hope you and your girlfriend are finding the support you need to get through this time. Things will improve. The sun still shines every day.
