So, we are wanting to take the kids to somewhere for a weekend this spring. I REALLY want to do Disneyland for Mikey's Birthday weekend so we can celebrate all of them there - they have a party and stuff.
BUT that would cost us 3x more than a trip to Legoland where we haven't been before.
BUT I really want to go to DL because it's the million dreams thingie
BUT it would be so much fun with Patrick - Mikey's first time to DL was when he was 3 and I had so much fun looking at the park through his eyes.
I can't ask the kids what they want to do - it's a surprise. We really can't afford to do stuff like this all the time. We did Seaworld with the boys last fall (that sucked) but Donnie's parents paid for that upfront because the main reason for the trip was to see Cathey before she died.
Audrey and I get to do a lot because of Scouts (we went to Knotts and the San Diego Zoo the past two years and Audie went to Universal Studios the year before that)
Donnie's arguement is that we can do 2-3 trips for the price of Disney, but I am finding packages for 2-3 days in the park and hotel for <$1050 off site. That's only $200 more than packages we were finding for Legoland.
I really want DL - I love the commercialized magic they market! I am a sucker for it

If the kids have never been before... then Disney is a sure winner.
Everyone should go there at least ONCE in their lifetimes. :D
Disneyland fo sho! Do your kids even play with Legos? Are they still big these days?

Well, the older two have been to Disney - Audie over the last summer with her PA group and we went as a family back about 4-5 yrs ago. There was a military promo that year and the admission was rather cheap and we stayed on site at the Pier. It was awsome.
And yeah, my kids play with Legos - Patrick loves them, Mikey loves them and knex and rokenbok. Audie likes them too. She is part of a competitive lego club at school but I am betting she is the weakest link in the group.
My comeback to donnie about the legos is that they have a store in Downtown Disney :D we can go there while we are at DL
Well the vacation is for all of you and sounds like you want to go to Disneyland. I say Disneyland! :)

Fly AirTran (and clue the kids ahead of time to throw a tantrum when it's time to take their seats)!!! :heh:

Disney is a must! Hell I'm going to Disney in Florida again in February and my kid is 24 years old and teaching kids.

Disney is way more exciting than Legoland!! treat yourselves! You can find ways to make it a bit more affordable (bring a picnic basket of food to eat so you don't have to pay their prices), and plus if you're a so-cal resident you get a discount.

Stay in a less-expensive hotel (anyhow you are going to spend till late-night at the park).. just to sleep, I believe less expensive hotel should be fine
then just flight + ticket entrance cost (that too, if you are so-cal resident, you can visit both park for the price of one, till april end).. Even if you are not, I dont think, they check that for everybody. YOu can say, you moved here.. but havent changed your id etc stuff..

Legoland's lines are horrible ?
Then what do you say about disney-land lines ? They are the worst of all! (that too on weekends)

I've never been to Disney-and have no desire to ever go-nor did my kids when they were growing up...We liked places like historical Salem and things like that.

I would love to go to Salem, Obby! We might when we get back east when Donnie is out. We need some time when we can take the kids to IL and show them around the forts along the river and to Springfield.
We have talked about Grand Canyon and Yosemite since we talked amusment parks. We have decided to wait until Fall- or even next spring to do anything more than 3 days. Especially since we can't make up our minds :) We are going to do a couple day trips to SoCal and might hit the central coast to visit family and a couple friends. Maybe visit some wineries too.

Salem was coooool. So are some of the other historical places out here in the east. Believe it or not, the best trip we ever took was to Washington DC-to Mount Vernon (which we did many times because it's so beautiful there). And naturally-once we hit the Mason Dixon line, we stopped at every historical place on the way..lol
