Hi,
I'm over at my parents house trying to do a 'quick' webcam install on XP SP2. My mom got this logitech webcam 4000. The instructions say "DO NOT PLUG CAMERA IN UNTIL AFTER DRIVER INSTALLATION".

But who reads directions. Anyway, I plugged in the camera and then went to install the drivers. Needless to say, WIndows picked up the camera with "Add new hardware wizard" and then labeled the camera as an "unknown USB Device" with a yellow exclamation. Now I read the directions.

So, where i'm stuck at now,

I've removed the Logitech software and drivers several times and rebooted.

I've removed the reg keys beginning with VID_046*** under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB

I've copied two INF files from my XP CD to \windows\system32\inf

And removed everything from device manager. I even put an environment variable telling device manager to show hidden devices.

The webcam still won't install. The logitech software sits there saying "Plug camera in now", and when i do plug the camera in, it still sits there and instead "New hardware wiz" pops up.

Please help.

i just let it install then go into device manager and update driver
i then browse cd..
i've also had to remove all my usb drivers in device manager and let it reinstall the usb host etc. only does that on the rear usb so i dont mess with them anymore
