Note that the first rule in turbocharging is to place the exhaust turbine of the turbo as close to the exhaust ports in the cylinder head as possible. Dissipated heat = wasted energy that could be used to spin the turbine.
Also, the longer the intake plumbing, the more lag you'll have as it takes time for the pressure created between the turbo and the throttle plate to build.
In short, this guy is his own worst enemy (but you knew that from the pics, right?)
