I have a 1987 Acura Legend with 160,000 miles (I'm the original owner). Both front seatbelt latches no longer work. I searched high and low for the latches and couldn't find them in any junk yard. I called Acura, would you believe it is a lifetime warranty and they said bring it in, they will fix it free and GIVE ME A LOANER. Well, those bastards gave me a brand new 2007 Acura TL with navigation. How am I going to give it back? What am I to do? This car is great, it's fast, quiet had gadgets that I wouldn't have imagined.
Tomorrow, it's back to my 87 Acura with the torn and shredded leather seats and when driving a hard pull to the right. Actually, Acura gets a lot of brownie points from me, I have to rethink if it's time to replace my Legend. BTW, my Legend has a brand new $400 radiator, less than two weeks old. That radiator is worth more than the car.

Keep your current Legend as a second car and buy the new TL. :P

Yeah I didn't figure as much. Your car has pretty low miles for an 87. Most of the ones I see that old for sale have around 250-300k or so.

My parents have a 95 Accord (british racing green w/tan leather) and only 60k miles. It has the vtec (first year maybe?) and my dad can't drive it without having 2 young Asian guys try to buy it where ever he parks. :) The car looks brand new. They only have that and a new pilot. My parents turned into Honda people. hah

So for the cost of a seatbelt latch or two, they got you to seriously think about buying a new car from them. Sounds pretty smart to me!

TL is one of the nicest cars out there, BUT there is a "nice" car that comes out every year as im sure ure 87 legend was a "nice" car when u purchased it. I would stick with ure Legend and keep the money! Just the insurance will add another extra 100 bucks or so to ure car payment.

20 year old car huh? :hmm:
Quit being a cheapskate and just go an get yerself a new Acura. :heh: You got your money's worth out of it... I'd say "pass it down to your kid, or a "less fortunate" relative and go enjoy the comforts or today. :D

Not the first year of VTEC - I have a 94 Accord with a VTEC engine. It has 185k miles on it.

I would just keep the TL in the back of your mind and look for one that is pre-owned; maybe a few years from now like in 2008! After all; depreciation is greatest in the first three years and then it pretty much straight line after that!
You save 50% off of new car prices! You just have to shop smart and pick a cream puff

It's not a 50% difference on Hondas/Acuras.
Plus then you have to deal with other peoples boogers under the seats and such.

I am not sure what exact year the 1st vtec accord was made, but I think it came out in the early 90's in the limited SE-i trim. My friend got a fully loaded black one with tan leather interior. It had either the integra or prelude v-tec motor and a smooth manual transmission.

The first Accord with a VTEC engine is the 1994 Honda Accord EX I4.

It must be an Acura thing. Every time the dealerships give me a loaner its typically a worse car than mine. I find it quite annoying. I drop off a newer BMW they give me a toyota corolla or camry! This is at two different BMW dealerships.

Maybe it's a Japanese advertising ploy... that the Germans haven't caught on to yet. :D

This is technically correct, but those were the cheaper oil pressure based vtec motors from what I remember.
There initially was a limited edition accord with the prelude H22A computer controlled vtec motor and it was pretty OG at the time. I wish I could remember the exact year and trim (SE-i, SI-R, etc).
