My mother-in-law let it me known that she would like a digital camera for her birthday next month, so my wife asked me to watch for something. Last week I ordered a refurbished Kodak from Geeks.com (fairly simple, uses SD media, and has PictBridge interface for a Polaroid printer I got from Buy.com for free aftger rebate but I can't use because my camera doesn't support PictBridge and the printer has zero computer interface). I happened to be home today (a bit under the weather) when the package arrived. My wife brought it to me and I told her what it was, so she stayed while I opened it. When I got to the inner package, the slip cover was kind of torn, and the box inside was unsealed. When I opened the inner box, all that was there was the manual/CD package - no camera! :(
I got on the phone with Geeks.com, told them what happened, and they said another camera is shipping out today. Kudos to them for handling it without causing grief.
After I looked at the shipping package, my suspicion is that someone cut open the bottom of the box (the current tape on the bottom looks wrinkled, as if it was a hasty tape over, especially as compared to the tape on the top - and the shipping label on the top was not cut through). My suspicion is that someone that was handling the package along the way saw the source label and package size and decided to go "fishing" inside. It was shipped via FedEx.
