I am training to participate in the Rock n' Roll Marathon in San Diego. Originally I decided to run the marathon for fun and for my health, but soon realized that I could do much more than fulfill a personal goal. In the past few years, I have seen people I truly care about affected by leukemia and lymphoma and their courage and ability to endure treatment and do it with a smile on their face has been inspirational.
A few weeks ago, I was running one of my longer distances and in the middle of it, I felt as though I’d hit a wall. I could feel myself slowing down and my legs getting heavy. My thoughts drifted to children I’ve known who have battled blood cancers; I thought of the pain they must have felt, the agony the people who loved them must have endured. Before I knew it, I was running again. I didn’t feel the pain in my legs anymore and I didn’t think about the distance I had left. It is for these individuals that I’m competing for this event. They are truly my motivation.
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. We are running for the true heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
If you feel more comfortable sending a check (made out to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society), please email me at [email protected] and I will send you a postage paid envelope to mail me the check.
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
