It looks like they raised the price $20 so that the out the door costs is $419 which keeps this still as the best deal on a workhorse computer! Keep the monitor,
and the price is $599 with everything and the 19" LCD monitor! It comes with
an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 3800+, a free upgrade to the 1GB of dual channel
DDR2 SDRAM, a FREE upgrade to the 160GB S-ATA 7200RPM hard drive, a DVDROM, integrated
7.1 channel audio, and even Windows VISTA!

Come on Dell! I've been looking for a "Real Dell Deal" to replace a number of aging machines.

When are you going to offer a bundle discount on a loaded high end computer? The Pentium D is obsolete compared to your new Core 2 Duo's!Say a Dimension 9200 with C2D 6600, 2 GB memory, a 250 GBhard drive , dual drives, a decent video card, Vista Premium, and a 20" digital monitor.

If you can keep the price under $1000 you'll corner a huge market!

Of course they would. That's also an insanely cheap price.

I'd be willing to bet that Dell is trying to make a profit, not take a loss.

a few things,...

first, today's dell deal doesn't have the pentium d. it's one of their "new" amd units.

and secondly, there have been a few dell's and "other" computer brands this month that you could've gotten with the specs you're talking about. it may not necessarily have been all AT dell (i.e. you upgrade or add components at dell.com) but with the other hard drive and monitor deals, you could get what you're looking for.

and lastly, the days of the really hot deals from dell may be slowly coming to an end. they've been in the red for far too long and the rumor is that they've changed their whole marekting strategy to actually make money this year.

if you're looking for some action with your complaints, you may get more of an answer by complaining directly to them over the phone.
