woohoo :D
I just checked pricewatch and all thunderbirds have droped in price!!
1.2ghz____$285
1.1ghz____$239
1ghz______$195
950mhz____$169
900mhz____$148
850mhz____$145
these prices are rediculous. I dont see how they can make money like this. Hopefully, they arent undercutting themselves

It doesn't cost that much to make them. The only reason you would think that is because intel always overprices their cpu's.

I like the competition!!!
Hopefully, I can upgrade my system to 1 gig for around $300 by early next year.

If you go to pricewatch and type in barebones and then add the processor you want, you would be amazed at what you can get for $350 to $400, especially if you limit yourself to AMD's

Get a duron!
I got a Duron 700, Abit kt7-raid motherboard and a full tower case for $280.
And I was easily able to overclock the Duron to 1 gig. Can get it as high as 1050mhz, but it gets a little cranky after a few hours. But 1 gig is totally solid, and the heat is low too, around 33 Celceius.
AMD is by far the way to go!!!!!!!!!

Sweet mother of Lord. The prices are so low. Should I ditch my PIII 600E?

Yes dodo90024 you should ditch the PIII. :dodgy: Toss the old CPU this way, I have an old Celery 300 I need to upgrade.
Yea AMD ROXXOR Duron 700@950 with fop38(kinda loud but i'm used to it)
I might get a 600E slot 1 for my abit bh6 mobo later who knows?

Has anybody used any other fan than the FOP-38, It's too loud and I want to OC my Duron 700 to at least 950, and I sitll can't decide on the Fan. Its either the FOP32-1, Super Chrome Orb or the Vantec cooler.

I went with the all copper Hedgehog!!! IT is awesome!!!
My second choice woudl have been the superorb. It is a good deal for the money.
But i love my Hedge. Keeps my Duron 700 at 1 Gig running a 1.80 volts right around 32-35 degrees. :-)
And it has the Y Tech fan (is that the right name?) so the noise is pretty low.
Wade
Hedgode cost a ton of money.... like 40+ right? Mine is fop38 + arctic silver combo

has AMD actually announced a price cut for thier chips? or is this just the market moving....

The Hedgehog is around $45. But it is the best, so I figured what hte heck. I wanted to get the most out of my processor so I figured I would try to keep it as cool as possible.
AMD is suppose to announce a price drop on the 14th of this month. Intel is suppose to on the 10th. But I think with DDR coming people are trying to clear out their stocks a little more, plus with all the dissappointing 4th quarters many companies are having, a price war is more than likely to happen.
Wade
The reason why the hedgehog costs so much is that only couple places are allowed to $ell it.
No dodo90024 build another system.
Super Chrome Orb is what I would use foolio
