Well, we got like 12 inches of snow or something, which wasn't near the trouble that 300 foot snow plow pile was at the bottom of my driveway. I actually had to re-gas up my snowblower. When you have that much snow, you really don't get to enjoy the fact that the snowblower moves itself. Because it doesn't. I do. Good lord I ache.
Before the storm hit, and during, I ran out TV shopping. My old one was going to require repairs that, while not terrible expensive I guess, was enough to make me go feh, make the jump to light speed. I mean, I had just sold the majority of my comic collection, I didn't want to turn around and dump that cash into OLD.
So after much obsessive-compulsive behavior (trips to Circuit City, Best Buy, Ultimate Electronics, Circuit City Again, Sears, Circuit City, and finally Ultimate Electronics), I pulled the trigger on a Sony 46 inch WEGA LCD KDF46E2000 (http://www.ultimateelectronics.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=6155&itemType=PRODUCT&iProductID=6155). And a stand. And yes, the warranty, because that covers bulb replacements. Plus Ultimate has always been good to me. I like buying from people that actually know more than I do, because with my OCD, I know a heck of a lot before I buy something.
Unlike Circuit City, which could have sold me a TV if the guy who said, "Look around, I'll be right here for you," hadn't left for home 5 minutes later. And if the second guy wasn't quite clearly mainstreamed from the group home only the day before.
Of course, U.E. couldn't promise delivery the same day, and frankly, once I go all OCD on something, waiting is not my strong suit. Amazingly enough, that sucker fit into the back of my Forrester. And the stand. I love that damn car.
So I spent all Saturday moving old tv into kitchen (where the now clear space on top of it instantly became used by my wife, putting the stand together, hooking up the tv to DirectTV/Xbox360/Wii/Tuner/Flux Capacitor, moving stuff off old TV and moving it into our entry way (where it magically sprouted a newspaper) moving old entertainment cabinet to kitchen where yes, stuff magically appeared on it, sitting my ass down and finally watching the damn thing.
It's a good TV. I will need to upgrade to DirectHD, but that can wait till summer. I'm happy. Yes, I know it's not 1080P, it's only 720P. My eyes aren't good enough to notice the difference, and the Xbox loves 720p. And yes, the factory settings SUCKED, and required much fiddling to get a decent picture on stand definition. It looks better in the house then the monster the old school Mitsu was. Also, for bonus points, NOTHING CAN BE PLACED ON TOP OF THE TV.
This pleases me like you cannot POSSIBLY imagine.
Sunday was just a day of snow, snow, snow. I'm about done with snow.
