Every Monday and Thursday nights I do laps for an hour or two in the high school pool. I didn't know that the county had issued a wind chill notice for tonight-it was freaky-when I came out of the building, My hair froze solid! It was like wearing a plastic hat on my head. Weird. Just thought I'd share.

I think that happened to me once in high school. A bunch of us (at this geeky math and science residential-on-a-college-campus school - MSMS) decided to go swimming right after an ice storm, and the temp was well below freezing. The pool was indoor, olympic size, and heated, so the swim was nice. But running (sliding?) back to the dorm wasn't. When I got back to the dorm, I noticed that my hair was standing straight up, and kinda snapped when I touched it. And I have (and had) short hair. It is weird.

Hmmm... sounds like you are trying to be a "borderline" frosted "blue hair" there Obby. :D

I remember that happening as a kid when we'd be out waiting for the school bus in the morning. I could feel the lines and ridges frozen into my hair from where it had been combed a certain way when still wet.

This happens regularly when you're in an outdoor hot tub when the weather's freezing or below outside. Your body's nice and toasty but your starts to get ice in it from being exposed. It's definitely an odd feeling.

I had a manager once who had half of his handlebar mustache break off when he was camping in cold weather.
