COVINA, Mar. 9, 2007 - A Covina man and his adult son are in custody Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in their apartment for about a week, authorities said.

Thomas Hinds, 50, and his son, Thomas Hinds Jr., 28, were arrested last night, according to the sheriff's department.

The son allegedly spoke with the girl on a "telephone party line" while his father listened in, then lured the girl to their apartment.

"The first word that comes to my mind is 'disgusting,' quite frankly," Pierson said. "The ... father drove to (the) Long Beach area to pick her up at a site away from her home and brought her to the apartment in Covina.

"I don't know how long she intended to stay there, but her family did report her missing on March 1, which is the day she left," Pierson said.

The girl was found after she called her grandmother, who, using caller ID, jotted down the telephone number and called police, who traced the number to the Hinds' apartment.

Covina police Lt. Scott Pierson told ABC7 that the pair were booked for unlawful sex with a minor, committing lewd acts with a minor and false imprisonment.

They were held on $75,000 bail each and arraignment is expected this afternoon in Pomona Superior Court.

These sickos should be hung by the balls!!!

I'm always disgusted by the amount of rape that occurs in prison, but I must admit there are certain moments when I'm thankful for such a "system."

Doesn't matter though. She was a minor, etc.

And I never believe media accounts of small stories like this. They almost invariably miss details, intentionally omit stuff, etc.

I understand shes a minor regardless, and I know the media never reports correctly, and you would be surprised at what they decide to fabricate (I was once the center of their fabrication on a fluff piece).

But...depending on where Covina is, it may be legal. There are a few states where age of consent is around 13/14.

If Covna isnt one of those states it still makes a difference between rape, statutory rape, kidnapping, child molestation charges.

Note: Do not take this post as an endorsement of having sex with minors.

:stupid:

Yea, there is A LOT about the story that we don't know. But regarding the general idea of luring a 14yo girl away from home and having sex with her:  :censored:

Me too, but it wasn't a fluff piece. Made national news for a day or so. It was a while back. Still, the details, etc., were all wrong.

I don't know about age of consent in all states, but for someone to take a girl of any age to his/her house as a provider of sex for himself and his son, keep her there, and seeing the girl was found based on caller-ID, etc., it is suspicious as hell. Just because you're above the age of consent doesn't make rape or imprisonment or whatever legal. It's a sad case all the way around.

I'm assuming that this is in California because Covina and Long Beach are both within driving distance of where I live.

anything that starts with a father and son teaming up to have sex with the same person gets automatic sicko status.
