After getting screwed over by my last job (no weekends off, crappy shifts, getting blamed for stuff and not giving reasons on how to change things), I decided to look for something else. I had been in a call center environment for 14 months (at two jobs), and decided it was just too much for me to handle.
Now I've found a job at a local photo printing company doing some mounting and laminating, as well as a bit of computer help when required. I did sadly have to take a cut in pay, but the fact this is a Monday to Friday daytime job more than makes up for it. It means I can actually plan things again (heading out of town once in a while, hanging out at karaoke, etc.)
The only drawback so far is that this is a very visual job, and I don't have the best vision to begin with. Luckily my manager and co-workers are very nice and accommodating, and are very supportive of the fact that I'm still learning things (now if only I could be supportive of myself in this aspect, I'd be all set -- I keep expecting perfection out of myself).
Best part of the job though? no direct contact with customers -- pretty much I'm in a back room all the time, so there's virtually no stress involved.
