After getting screwed over by my last job (no weekends off, crappy shifts, getting blamed for stuff and not giving reasons on how to change things), I decided to look for something else. I had been in a call center environment for 14 months (at two jobs), and decided it was just too much for me to handle.

Now I've found a job at a local photo printing company doing some mounting and laminating, as well as a bit of computer help when required. I did sadly have to take a cut in pay, but the fact this is a Monday to Friday daytime job more than makes up for it. It means I can actually plan things again (heading out of town once in a while, hanging out at karaoke, etc.)

The only drawback so far is that this is a very visual job, and I don't have the best vision to begin with. Luckily my manager and co-workers are very nice and accommodating, and are very supportive of the fact that I'm still learning things (now if only I could be supportive of myself in this aspect, I'd be all set -- I keep expecting perfection out of myself).

Best part of the job though? no direct contact with customers -- pretty much I'm in a back room all the time, so there's virtually no stress involved.

whats your age? you could have lasik done on the eyes to bring them into shape? My wife had them done few years back and its amazing. truley. i was going to get them done but the way my eyes are i would need reading glasses later in life where as if i dont have lasik i wont need them. they say they have a fix for that now. would have been close to 1000.00 for me. if i was in my 20's i wouldnt think twice, i would be the first in line.
sounds like the job was a step up. I dont do weekends anymore either

Congrags! Customers really are a PITA, I'd rather not deal with them either. People suck.

Your title "Stable job" had me wondering if you were cleaning stalls, shovelling horse poo, stacking hay, stuff like that. I used to help my ex g/f do that on the side, it was a great job.

Haha, good one. :)

As for Lasik surgery, it is something I'm definitely considering (I'm 27 years old). Then again, considering I had cataracts when I was born and my lenses were removed, I'd still have to look at whether this is a viable option (I believe I brought up the topic several years back, and people were hinting that it was).

do your homework. we had appointments at a place here in cincinnati but we showed up at the wrong place thing that was it. got a call from a friend that said the place we were going to wasnt paying their doctors and they all walked out.. thats when she told us the name and we said whoops were at the wrong place.. guess thats why they couldnt find our appointments. ended up we were at the better place :) other option is the ring implant where they can adjust the ring if your eyes change (2k). Lasik Plus did my wifes and about 10 people at her work. they were giving 50$ amex certs. for every person we sent there and had it done. received a couple 100$ ones also. all are happy. the rings are at midwest eye institute and are options for people with thin corneas (sp)for lasik, do it on friday and be at work monday. wear eye protection for a week so you dont rub your eyes.
