cooling system flush

any ideas what it should cost to have the heater and cooling system .flushed and filled with new anitfreeze .my heater is clog and not giveing any heat .was told to have it flushed by a friend .who just did a bunch of work on it ,but haas no water in his garage right now due to it being winter .the trucks a 1993 Ford E-150 converison with a rear heater .

How do you know it is clogged? Are you sure it isn't just low on coolant? Does the heater control valve (if there is one) work?

If it truly is clogged, the core may need replacing.

Do both of the heater hoses get hot when the van reaches operating temperature?

it was check by a mech .friend and he said that is whats needed . he would of done it but like i said he had no running water right now out in his shop :( or he would of .and it been part of the bill when he replaced the oil pan ,and starter and repaired other things it needed .this is all thats left .but being michigan and he heats his shop with a wood burner .he cant keep water running out there . and im heading on a trip next week so i have to get this done .

just a guess but be ready to buy a new heater core :( on the other hand some 90's chevys had this problem worse than anything i've ever seen. a system flush ended up needing heater core and water pump. couple months later a new short block. my inlaws were ticked. a flush in cinti, oh is about 75.00

you can get that sort of thing done at a rapid oil. I don't think they cost THAT much. However, that can be a hard thing to know if you actually need one. It's possible your core is shot, or that the thermostate is sticking.

thanks guy cost me $80 .there was a clog in the heater core .brown sludge nasty pressure tested ok .and no leaks now hope it stay holding.
taking the truck to florida next week .one way it be staying there forever . :) all we do is park it here anyway .
