it was a toss up between the acura TL and the lexuz is250. i only picked the is250 because my parents had a lexus for 16 years without any major tuneups. but yeah...i drove an is200 about 2 years ago, that thing handles great. i love it! the auto shift feature is good for getting a few more umphs from your engine. the TL is also nice. there are very few things i covet...and the TL is one of them.

I heard the back of a IS250 is small and that you can't fit a bag of golf clubs in the trunk. True or false?

That's true since the IS is designed as a upscaled compact car not as a midsize like the TL and G35. If I am going to get an IS, it's going to be the IS350.

I say TL. In terms of power and the RWD, perhaps the G35 trumps the TL, but I happen to think the G35 is ugly as sin. Plus, speaking purely for myself, there's a point when I say, "eh, I don't really need much more power than this." and the TL meets that threshold. The G35's perks just don't outweigh its looks for me.
EDIT:
oh, and as for some of the other choices, I'm not really a sports car kinda guy, tho a friend of mine owns the Z and it is fun to drive. the only Benz I like is the SL (I know, it kinda contradicts my "not really a sports car guy" statement), and I absolutely hate the way BMWs feel. the Lexus is alright, but again, I've never been that big a fan of the IS's looks. I also like the Audi, sort of my guilty pleasure. that might be one of my alternate choices.

i picked audi. if you would really like awd, feel like audi knows what they're doing with AWD
infiniti is a close second. really like their cars.
if i were in your shoes, i'd think about picking up an 04 or 05 330xi. not a fan of their latest gen styling, but thought the prev. was really elegant. save 10grand and pick up another toy.

I think you should list your priorities, in terms of what you're looking in a car. Because many of the rides you posted are very different in many ways. Take the RX8 for example, you can get one for like 22k brand new. IS250 can run you upwards of 35k, same for the G35, BMW, Z and the MBZ. So what exactly are you looking at? If safety and control are your big priorities, you gotta go with one of the sedans with AWD. Also, the rides mechmike posted are fairly nice too. There is also the Charger RT AWD to consider if you want go Chrysler. My biggest beef is that their warranty stinks. Which means you gotta fork out extra to extend it. But the rides are sold for such a markup right now (5-8k off easily), its probably not that big of a deal.
Anyway. If AWD is a big thing, G35, A4, BMW aren't a bad choice. I'd opt for the g35 because you can never have enough power. Plus i'm sorta disillusioned with Audi right about now. (I own one, but its a older model, almost 4 years/44k miles and its starting to feel like its falling apart). Anyway, if fun is priority, I'd take the Z. Cuz at the end of the day, I think that ride brings the most joy of them all when you climb into it. The RX8 has engine problems, drinks loads of gas (19mpg avg) and burns 1 quart of oil every couple thousand miles. MBZ have quality issues, which are worse than 10 years ago (see consumer reports). TL is a good budget choice, good performance/luxury/price balance, but like you said, no AWD option. Personally, the winner is the G35 on that list. It has the power/luxury/price balance.
Good luck with your decision.

True on that account, with the G35 price tag it beats them all with power, luxury and price. If the TL price range was scaled slightly lower then what it is now then it'll be a pretty tough call between the G35 and the TL.

It's a close call between the G35x and the TL. I like the G35x but I found that I "fit" into a TL better. I also like the Acura styling a bit better than the G35x although both look sharp. In the end, I picked the TL because it can be had for a bit less than the Infiniti and represents a better bang for the buck IMO if you're not dead set on AWD (which is overrated if you're not living in a stormy area).
Also, if storage is important to you, last time I shopped for the two cars in question, the TL didn't have fold-down seats - just a ski passthrough. This was for MY2006 cars and not sure if they changed since.
Couldn't go wrong with either one. But that Pontiac G8 (aka the Holden Commodore) looks nasty. I'd put that right up there.

Move the Holden Commodore's steering to the left side, add a Pontiac grill and you have a G8 - honest...

General Motors has revealed the 2008 Pontiac G8 sports sedan. Based on the Commodore from GM's Holden subsidiary in Australia...
From http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_shows/2007_chicago/0702_2008_pontiac_g8/
Pontiac’s G8 comes from GM’s Australian Holden division, a company known for hugely entertaining, old-school V-8-powered, rear-wheel drive sedans.

Nope so get the new TL Type-S. Acura navigation system is one of the best and Acura quality is a little bit above Infinity.
