I took this picture a while ago- just before New Years. It is the first photo I am working on in hopes of having some prints for sale (mostly to tourists) and also aiming for a calendar if I can keep the costs per unit low enough. I designed one last year but didn't get past the idea stage. I have that one in my gallery. I just did this last night. It is sized for an 11x 14 at 300dpi (dots per inch) and could be resized smaller easily. Probably would mostly sell 8x 10s or 5x 7s matted. I haven't priced any of that yet either. Would need the mats and some plastic sleeves for them. Some shops do carry works by local artists- especially of local scenery. I still need some more photos for the calendar. I would like to have that done before summer to try to get some out to the tourists while they are in town.

Zippy, out of curiosity, what sizes are you printing your photos.
edit: what's the largest size you've ever printed your photos?

Right now I hardly print anything. Unless it is for someone else. I am starting to try to select my entries for the Del Mar Fair and those will be 11x 14 matted to 16x 20 which is according to their specifications.

Very nice. A friend gave me a 1/1000 print taken locally by a woman who shoots in IR and then HAND TINTS the stuff. Beautiful pic of a plantation in St. Francisville, LA. It looks like something that's been photoshopped or something, but it hasn't. That hand-tinting is a lost art. I'm just looking for a good frame.

Seems like most hotels over 50 years old have a ghost. Thomas Edison helped install electric lights in the Del. It was the first hotel in California with electricity and I think the first place outside of New York- or at least one of the first. Opened in 1888.

I like the effect of the sepia tone....best wishes regarding your possible sales ventures.
