My post in the other thread sums up the problem.

UPDATE: Stay away from the Sceptre x22wg. The thing died on me the other day and after an hour of troubleshooting I traced the problem to the monitor's DVI port. Went to NewEgg to post a review about it and EVERYONE is saying the same thing. This monitor seems to work for a month or two at most, then dies.

A quick glance at the last 100 reviews posted at NewEgg, going back to late January: EVERY REVIEW REPORTS A DEAD DVI PORT. EVERY SINGLE LAST ONE. What a lemon of a monitor. I am furious.

Check this out, it's absolutely ridiculous: Link (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16824112005)

EDIT: just realized I had the list sorted for negative reviews at the top. But even sorted by date, there'll be one person reporting on the beautiful monitor they just bought, then two people complaining about a dead DVI.

I don't care what Sceptre or NewEgg say, I won't be happy with anything less than a refund and I'm sure as hell NOT going to depend on a replacement from Sceptre.

So I'm looking for another 22" widescreen LCD, NOT made by Sceptre. It is for work, and work doesn't care about cost or rebates (work has assloads of money). I just need a good reliable monitor. What's the best out there? Any recommendations? I have always been fond of ViewSonic, should've gone with them from the get-go. TIA.

I've heard great reviews on both the Dells and the Apples.

yeah, dell is one. at least the 20.1" LCDs im using are still going strong after 2 years. theyre very inexpensive, for the quality and build they have.

just last night i went for a 22" Acer from buy.com. Cheapest 22" i can get without rebates. Review from cnet *linky* (http://reviews.cnet.com/Acer_AL2216WBD/4505-3174_7-32082877.html) encouraged me to get one. no frills, just DVI and VGA, no USB ports, no extra inputs, doesnt even swivel or raise up or down. after 2 years with my current LCDs, its exactly just what i need. If its as advertised, ill get a 2nd one.

before that ive been eyeing the 22" dell refurb widescreens. then Compusa this week has a 22"LCD (KDS) for $230 with a rebate. Id have gone for it (i have a bit of confidence with KDS - it was my very first 19" monitor 9 years ago, lasted me a good 4 years. then it served another 2 with my sister). i dont like rebates, plus i have to pay tax, so i went for the Acer instead (with google $10 rebate its $244 shipped).

if $$$ is no object, check out the samsung syncmaster 226BW - from my 22" LCD research, it always gets good mention.

Anyone have experience with LG? It's coming down to a decision between the Samsung 225BW and the LG L226WT.

Will be picking one up at Best Buy later today, hopefully. This can't wait for a NewEgg RMA.

Dude... no! BestBuy? Don't you at least have a Costco around?

Yea, I know. I don't have time to screw around with RMA or shipping, so B&M it is. At least if this one goes bad it'll be that much easier to return. A B&M store would never get away with the runaround you get with RMAing something with an online retailer.

No Costcos around. BB is out of stock so it is coming from Circuit City. Samsung 226WB, $350.

Yeah, if you're office is paying for it, definitely buy it at the closest B&M.

I got the Acer one from Newegg over 6 months ago, no problems with it. Although I wish I had gotten one from Costco.
