Well, with a day like yesterday, it makes it hard to come up with my usual malarkey.

I mean, it’s just one of those things that creeps into your brain and sort of shunts every thing else off to the side. Everything from sympathy to fantasies of being the hero to wondering what you would do to blah blah blah can’t stop thinking head explodes.

People tend to blame the media for these frenzies that happen at this time, but really, we are all sort of obsessive compulsive when it comes to tragedy and spectacle. Part of it is that it’s just outside are normal day to day and people try to place themselves in these situations just to understand them. Part of it is that’s just how the brain works. Some days it’s a butterfly randomly hitting flowers, some days it’s a train running full tilt in circles, going over the same ground over and over again. It’s normal. Media can make it seem more crazy, but it’s just a reflection of how we deal, obsessing about something till it becomes annoying, then we can shunt it aside and move on.

At least, that’s how it is when it isn’t us. I can’t imagine what it’s like when you are in the center of it. Probably the same thing times 1000. Trying to make sense of something that doesn’t make sense, and won’t make sense no matter how you try to fit square pegs into round holes. All you can really do is try to learn from it, and move on, I guess.

Still sucks, though.

You go have a day.
