OKay this is kinda a strange post and proabally in the wrong tpoic but erhe it is anywayz. At my folks house they have a blanket. Its very thick, very heavy and very big. A friend of a relative got it while staying in korea. I have never found anything anywhere that even comes close to comparing to this. Anyone know where i can get one <short of going to korea>??? Online, retail, whatever. Thanks all>!!

Where do you live? I don't know about any online retailers, but they do have some stores in metros that are heavily populated w/ korean people like K-town in LA. I'm sure these stores sell what you're looking for.

Yeah, we have always called them "mink" blankets. We have several from when Donnie was in Korea. There is a store just down the street from us that has them. Another place to look is flea markets. I have seen them there.

if you google Chrissy's term, "Mink Blankets", it comes up with a bunch of links. Something like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/SOLARON-BIEGE-FLOWER-Korean-Mink-Blanket_W0QQitemZ300100005737QQcmdZViewItem), right? They're definitely popular in flea markets, but you can always just buy it online (though, it's so heavy, I wonder what the S&H is like, yikes!)

Since it sounds like a Korean thing, you may be able to find something in the Asian area of the Twin Cities. I know that there's a Vietnamese area there, because my mom and I used to go, so there may be a Korean area.

Sounds like the kinda blanket I've heard called an "eskimo blanket", there's another search term to try. I'm not finding anything on it so maybe that's not what they're widely called. The one I'm thinking about is't quilted or sewn, it's just like a reealy heavy material, maybe 1/2" or more thick, usually with a printed pattern on it, and like a thick plush kinda feel to both sides of it. If that is it, then I'm not sure how much help I can be if I don't know the right word for it!

Edit: I did more searching for "eskimo blanket". One of the 'sponsored links' at Buy.com sent me to this site (http://www.headquarterswholesale.com/Retail/General/BrowseCategory.aspx?CategoryId=242) for mink blankets, which looks exactly like what I was thinking you could be describing. Those are Queen size, but they also have King. And lots with (IMO) tacky prints. Any luck?

I'm in Korea. They're just called blankets here. If you get a chance to go to a Korean shop, don't ask for an "ee-bool" which is Korean for blanket.

You have to ask for a "dahm-yoh" instead. "Dahm" sounds like the first syllable in Jeffrey Dahmer's last name and "yoh" is a little longer than it'd sound if you were to read it as "yo" instead.

the one site looks promising but the prices loook way too cheap but also its cheap enough o give it a try without being out a bunch of cash the main thing i enjoy is the weight of the blanket heavy heavy heavy
