If you heard the news, a raving Alex Baldwin's voicemail was made public... http://www.aolcdn.com/tmz_audio/0419_baldwin.mp3 I think he lost his cool, but I don't know if I wouldn't have in the same situation. The way I understood it, his 11 year old daughter would not answer any of his phone calls. He is in a bitter divorce with Kim Basinger and it seems to me the daughter is being coached to avoid her fathers calls. I feel badly for Alex and mostly the daughter for her mother to make this personal problem public, that was worse than the ranting. Above is the audio, here are the words... Morning Mix: Alec Baldwin Lashes Out at 11-Year-Old Daughter
"You don't have the brains or the decency as a human being. I don't give a damn that you're 12 years old, or 11 years old, or that you're a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn't care about what you do as far as I'm concerned. You have humiliated me for the last time with this phone." -- Alec Baldwin on his 11-year-old daughter's voicemail

Don't you DARE feel sorry for him. I don't care what she did, NO child deserves to be talked to that way, especially by her parents. Shame on both parents for putting their daughter in the middle. He called her a pig, etc. Extremely uncalled for. He deserved to have it become public so the public could see what an ass he is. But the girl didn't deserve that at all. :(

Sounds like he's justified in being frustrated with his (ex)wife. But taking it out on his daughter is not right. He needs to direct his anger appropriately. Seems like both parents have put themselves and their individual interests ahead of their daughter's well-being to some extent. On the plus side (if there is one), I don't think this would bother him if he didn't care about her. But then again, maybe it's just a control issue.

...taking it out on his daughter is not right... ...maybe it's just a control issue. :shrug:That's what I think happened, he got so frustrated he lost control. I think it terrible that he spoke to he daughter that way, a moment of insanity. As Jenny said, "NO child deserves to be talked to that way" nothing could be more true. There is a lot more to this than we will know. I would explode if I were ever in the position that my daughters would alienate me and I loved them so much.

Believe it or not, Alex Baldwin is known in Hollywood for having a temper. He's gone off like this before, so I for one am not surprised by this.

What he did was wrong. What Kim did is just as wrong, in an attempt to get back or even or whatever at her ex hubby, she put her daughter on the line.... think about their daughter, because neither of her parents are. How embarrassing is this? This is out there for everyone to talk about. Kids are merciless and I am sure they will poke fun at her and harass her all because 1. her father is a stupid ass, and 2 her mother is a vengeful bitch.
So please don't put all the blame on ONE parent. Both parents did harm to this girl. BOTH.

It's Alec Baldwin. There's probably an Alex among his 26 brothers that are in show business.

"As of May 4, 2007 a court will be considering whether Baldwin should be allowed continued visitation with his daughter in light of an expletive-strewn, threatening phone message he left to his 11-year-old daughter, Ireland.[11]"
Alexander Rae Baldwin III (born April 3, 1958)
(So in theory, you could call him Alex. He just goes by Alec)
The Baldwin brothers, Alec (born 1958), Daniel (1960), William (1963) and Stephen (1966) are four American brothers who have all become notable actors.
Born in Massapequa, New York, the Baldwin brothers are the children of Alexander and Carol Baldwin. The brothers have two sisters, Jane and Elizabeth.
Probably Alec cause of the father Alex.
Baldwin responded to the release of the recording by saying "Although I have been told by numerous people not to worry too much, as all parents lose their patience with their kids, I am most saddened that this was released to the media because of what it does to a child," he wrote. "I'm sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child. I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now. You have to go through this to understand. (Although I hope you never do.) I am sorry for what happened. But I am equally sorry that a court order was violated, which had deliberately been put under seal in this case."

Baldwin was definitely out of line with his comments and a parent should never talk to their child that way. However, why do we care? It sounds like this is a personal matter and I think whoever released the clip to the public was in the wrong.

I agree. .
If he had a court ordered visitation, the mother/supervisor would have to be there to hand off the child. If there's a court ordered phone visitation the mother/supervisor should have to make sure the daughter is there to receive the call or picks up the phone when the father calls.
When you put someones back against a wall, they will explode and there's no doubt in my mind that the mother knows this, did, and it worked.
Do we know for sure that it wasn't the daughter who released the tape to get back at her father by embarrassing him?
Why do we care? Because the boudaries of child abuse has changed so drastically. If a parent loses their temper, which I have to believe everyone has at some point, is now considered child abuse. Yes, calling a child a pig is abuse but some people say it's not even what you say it's the tone, etc. What are the boudaries?

I agree 100%.
But another way of looking at it is to be annoyed at the public for eating stuff like this up. Blame society for creating an environment where a tape like this is considered newsworthy. Peoples' lives must be pretty damn boring if they care this much about what some actor said to his kid. I think society has a big priority problem in deciding what's interesting and newsworthy. The obsession with every little detail of famous peoples' lives is pathetic.

I can agree here. If Joe-Bob down the proverbial street did this, nobody would care. But a CELEBRITY - OOOH! - does this, and everyone goes nuts. Why do people care so much about celebrities IRL? I mean, you can hate their acting, or even their political stances, or in my case, I resent Cruise for talking people out of seeking psychiatric treatment. But celebs are much like everyone else. I've known a whole lot of them. And the ones I haven't, I know people who know them, for the most part. (save Paris Hilton, maybe, but who tf cares?) Sure, some are weird as hell, but most are just normal people when off camera/stage/whatever.

I agree. I know it's none of my business what others do in their spare time, but personally, when I see see people in public reading celebrity gossip magazines, I can't help but wonder if that's really the most exciting thing they could be doing. It's sad. Either way, Basinger's actions were harmful and uncalled for. Of course, the same goes for Baldwin.
Sorry, gotta go post in the Paris Hilton and Sanjaya thread now. seeya later.
