Developing story. Blue Angel F-18 crashed at air show. One pilot dead.

Another tragedy. I've seen them practice, and they are very, very good.

This sucks. My daughters best friend is married to a Blue Angel.
He is a pilot stationed in Japan but they fly all over to do shows.

Wow, I have seen them before. Can't imagine how the spectators reacted

Yeah.. that's shocking news.

The Blue Angels home base used to be in my hometown Pensacola, FL... so of course we've always had a special affinity for them.

Tis sad news indeed....

Reminds me of my days in the air force doing accident investigations. I've seen countless widowed wives and families left behind and it's always a tragic sight. I have tremendous sympathy for families of pilots who have to live with the fear of an accident every single day. Being a pilot is an honorable and rewarding job, but an extremely dangerous one, regardless of whether you're deployed or not. All the accidents I've witnessed were from training missions.

RIP

Still are based there, AFAIK. I see them often when I'm in the Pensacola area. Not so much in Pensacola unless you go onto base, but if you're at Gulf Shores/Orange Beach or something, it's fairly common to see a formation buzz by. Pretty damn cool to see.

They are based out of my home town El Centro for a few months a year. Sad news.

They definitely have the shine and polish of the best of the best, but even they are human, and errors do happen... wow
