Taking this stupid thing has been weighing on me to an extent ever since I decided that I would ultimately apply for b-school . . . keep in mind, this was before I came abroad. Well, I plan to head back to the US in a year - and that likely means back-to-school, so figured I'd finally better take the damn GMAT.
Took it today. I'm very pleased with my score - it rounds to 800 if you round to the nearest 100 ;) . . . (been spending too much time doing practice problems lately). ;)
Bleh. Anyway, now I can sit back and relax and never think about a standardized test ever again. I hope.
grats. i'm actually headed to b-school in the fall

Butch that's awesome. Isn't 800 the most you can get? You should be able to get into some pretty good schools with that score. Unless you sucked ass in college and your psychotic side shows through in your interviews.

Hey congrats!! What kind of career are you pursuing?
Also, I know Georgetown fielded an MBA Games team. Consider joining it, it's a lot of fun and for a great cause (raising money for Special Olympics of North Carolina).

Good deal. I remember the GRE. I got 750 or higher on all 3 sections. GMAT was similar as well.

My background is in Finance and Accounting, but I would like to move into something along the lines of Strategic Planning or Business Development. I don't mind Financial Planning & Analysis, but I would like to take that knowledge and apply it to decision making that will change the business direction of my employer.
Also, I would like to continue my entrepreneurial endeavors and the network I would gain from heading back to b-school will only help me reach those goals.

that sounds like an MBA application explanation :) You're in now! What do you "really" want to do? ;)

That is exactly what I want to do.

Thanks, folks!
Lots o' b-schoolers here, it seems! I haven't even started thinking about the application process - I think apps come out in July or so, so I'm going to enjoy the window between now and then while I can't possibly think/do anything about it.
I submitted scores to a rather ambitious list of schools - without really having researched specific schools yet, I figured that would be the best use of the 5 free spots. Don't know if I'll end up applying to them in the end, though. We shall see.
I guess in the window of time between now and when the apps come out, I should be researching schools . . . bah . . . guess that maens I don't get a break from thinking about it!

Let me guess, Wharton, MIT, Stanford, Columbia, and....NYU? Probably not NYU. I only have 4.

Yup, you have 4 . . . but replace MIT with another Cambridge school and then you have the group! ;)
As I mentioned . . . it's a rather ambitious group. I definitely don't have any pretenses about getting accepted, but since an MBA is an investment - and without having any strong research on the topic - I figured I'd shoot for the rankings and geographic proximity to NYC ;)

Whew . . . after over a year of going through this damn process, I finally have an acceptance in hand to a school I want to go to (Columbia)!
Such a huge relief and weight off my shoulders.
Plus, I'll get over a month off over the summer after I leave my contract in Germany and before school starts! I have to figure out what I'll do!
