Those drugs they give you are awesome. I opened my eyes and asked when they are starting, and they said they were done already!

Yeah, my friend had his pulled a while ago and when he came home he couldn't even walk by himself, his mom was dragging his ass to his bed. He was really really out of it too, he would mumble random things.

I have yet to get my wisdom teeth pulled, I'm not looking forward to that! My guess is the next time I go to the dentist he schedules me to have mine taken out.

Stock up on tons of ice cream and apple sauce. Man, did I ever bleed a lot. That was crazy uncomfortable. I will agree with this: those drugs are incredible. They asked me to count to ten, I doubt I got much past 2 1/2. Everything went blurry and then went black, just like the movies! It was cool.

i've got a screening on friday so my poor ass can participate in a clinical trial and get mine yanked for free. i pray that i'm not the one getting screwed and not getting the high dosage of pain medication! that would be serious suckage. i am looking forward to tylenol 3's though

my roomate has a funny story about this...
she went by herself, but i guess her mom knew she might need a ride home after, so she met her there.
anyway, my roomate said when she got done, she walked out into the waiting room and almost fell down. then she saw her mom and said something to the effect of "That was good, Pay the lady" and then stumbled out.
i don't know if it sounds as funny to you guys, but to hear her tell the story had me laughing so hard!

Got mine yanked last year. All4 of em after constant infections swelling and pain. First OP I have ever had, first time I was ever put under. They used that IV drip stuff to knock me out. Man was it crazy. I was OUT. The following three days were a bit uncomfortable but Tylenol 3 rocks and make sure you have a ton'o' pudding. also don't be surprised if a week later you start getting aching back there and little bone splinters appear as this is supposedly normal. Also do yourself a favor and grab a couple boxes of gauze pads. I was pretty much able to function normally, aside from eating solid food, within a couple of hours after the OP. Good luck.

I remember when I got my wisdom teeth out, years ago.
The drugs wouldn't work they had me count to ten, then count ten to one, I told them it wasn't wor....
When I woke up I had an increadably intense paranoid feeling from the drugs... it never went away.

Yeah, when I was a little tike, my parents had to cough up about 2 grand to pull out a bunch of my teeth, all I remember about the OR is the bright lights, the mask and then..........dinner in a hospital bed. Hmm I wonder what I missed.

i'm so lucky...
i have really good teeth. never had braces, and they are totally straight and normal, didn't have a cavity until i was 17 years old. and i don't think i'll ever have to get my wisdom teeth pulled... but who knows? maybe one day i will and then i will know the dental nightmares that i've heard so much about :)

I had mine out a while ago, and it wasnt fun. nfortunately for me, three of my wisdom teeth were fully in and had been for years, but still all 4 plus the gums were removed. Knocked me out for the procedure and from life for a good week and a half. Even more fun was getting repeated wicking in the resulting holes. Loads of fun. There werent enough drugs to keep me out of pain.
That being said, my younger brother is going in for his on Friday. He is not a happy camper, figuring he wanted to go party down with his "ladies and boys" from back home.

hey good luck-and dont forget to keep your mouth closed to any kind of cool air for awhile so you dont end up with a dry socket-and once ya get that nice clot there in the hole-rinse with warm salt water-it will help heal it up. I don't envy you at all.
Bah. None of this wussy falling asleep crap for me. All I had my dentist did was numbed everything and then he took care of business. crack crack http://www.geocities.com/sbp7777/evilsmile63.gif
After he was done I walked home and everything was just fine. http://www.geocities.com/sbp7777/teeth.gif

Yep. Mine were all out, but I couldn't get back there without gagging, so they started to get cavities, till one finally shattered. A little novicane, they yanked them out, and I bleed for a week (I'm a bleeder, I'm good at it).
All in all not fun, but cheaper then if they have to dig 'em out.

Me too! That's what I get for going to a chinatown discount dentist. I really wanted some nitrous too, shoot. Those pills that they gave me afterwards looked like horse pills, but they didn't really affect me. I think it was vicodin. I like the tylenol with codeine better personally.

How much more painful (after the fact) is it to get one wisdom tooth yanked than... say... one of the rear/larger molars?
(I'm curious, and haven't gotten my wisdom teeth yanked out yet. :heh: )

It could not have been Vicodin because it kicks ass as far as pain pills go, it stomps all over tylenol with codeine. Vicodin is heaven in pill form, that is what every other celebrity ends up in rehab for. Hmm, gotta go check my goody drawer and see if I have any left.

i think the rear/lorger teeth would be way more painful depending on when you pull them. as the wisdom tooth is forming the ends are still straight. This is the time to pull them. the rear teeth on the other hand clench the gums making it really painfull.

I missed out on the good drugs too, you wussies. Coupla shots of novacane in the ol' gums and he went at it.
The top ones he just popped out, but the bottom ones were apparantly harder to find - I saw him go in with the scalpel & he was digging around in there for some time. When he finally found it, he had to break it into pieces to remove it. The other bottom one he had to drill in half. That was the worst part of the whole thing - the smell of burning enamel as he drilled. :umm:

the first time i got two wisdom teeth pulled, and i woke up before they were done, and they couldn't get me back to sleep. i was not a happy camper. then the pain meds they gave me (vicoden) made me violently ill which is oh so much fun when you can't open your mouth. my face was swollen for a week and the black and blue mark on my arm from the iv took a wicked long time to go away.
when i started feeling the pain of the other two still in my mouth, i was not happy. knew i was gonna have to get them taken out. this time it worked out much better. the drugs worked wonderfully and they gave me percocet for the pain. now that is a wonderful wonderful drug. i wasn't anywhere near as swollen and after three days i was eating real food again.
i did get a wicked cool t-shirt tho- it said "The Yanks are coming! The Yanks are coming!" across the top. In the middle are three teeth with the fife and drum, and one guy carrying a flag looking very revolutionary and then across the bottom it says i got my wisdom teeth yanked at dr. fines. almost worth the pain

i'm so glad my wisdoms are coming in straight! if they weren't...i'd be screwed, because pain killers rarely work on me. i went through so much vicodin when i snapped my wrist a while back...and it did nothing. i really screwed that arm up though. i rebroke it two or three times by lifting females and stuff like that. i'm a slow learner...considering how it was the same girl each time.

hey, shut up; she weighs like 130...but I guess you're not supposed to be lifting 130 pounds on a wrist that just snapped in two places two weeks before... That was the girl that I eventually dated and am no having problems getting over because we keep running into each other. I'd post a pic if I had a scanner...then you'd take back the line about being fat, but it's all cool I know you're just joking around.

i got all four wisdom teeth surgically removed when i was in college a few years ago. i had some stupid bacteria that caused some condition called "dry socket"...sucked. the wounds wouldn't heal right...it took a lot longer than normal to close up! To ease the pain, every couple days I'd have to go in and the dentist would stuff this numbing stuff into the empty sockets...ugh...not happy. but...all better now :-)

These stories make having root canals done sound like a dream.
I just went to the dentist this afternoon and he surprised me by saying my wisdom teeth were still developing. That brings the fear of God to me cause I had thought the pain I felt previously was my wisdom teeth, now I get to wait for the pain. :bawl: :banghead:
