I somehow had all my emails in my inbox that had an attachment on them dissapear from there. They are not in any other folders like my drafts or discarded messages. I think it occured during an automatic update of my mailbox. They are probably available somewhere else but I do not know where to look. After I send some emails it always asks me if I want to synchronize my mailbox but I don't know with what. This is why I think I have them somewhere else. Does anyone know of a way to find out where my messages go to? I should be on Internet Explorer if that is any help. I just use the link my interrnet provider gives me on my tool bar.

What mail system & what client are you using - sounds like a web based one?

It is through Earthlink- the one they connect to so yes, I guess web based. One of the things you do not even think about until there is an issue. I tried to see if there is anything in Outlook Express email, but there is nothing there at all.

I'd suggest that you synchronize your mailbox with a POP3 client, like Outlook Express. If the messages are still there, they'll get downloaded.
Looks like you can get all of the required settings here (http://kb.earthlink.net/case.asp?article=23490)
Important note - if you still want to be able to see your messages through the web, be SURE to check 'leave a copy of the messages on the server' BEFORE you synchronize/download your mail. The default setting is to delete them from the server once they're downloaded.
