I am using my MP3 player while I mow the lawn. The earbuds have a habit of falling out with even the slightest movement.

Are earphones the only alternative?

You want some in-ear monitors. They go right into your ear canal, & some are even like those squishy earplugs so they block outside noise at the same time, which is great if you use them while mowing since you won't have to crank up the volume that much. Unfortunately, they're pretty expensive, too.

Another option are 'earclip' style, with plastic clips that slide behind your ear like glasses. Much cheaper & they stay on fairly well, but don't isolate outside noises. I use something similar to these when I'm running:

As Jeffbx mentioned, if you're mowing the lawn you definitely want in-canal plug-style headphones, particularly the ones that allow for foam plugs, e.g, Shure. For the past two years I've been using the Shure e4c headphones and the foam plugs make the NYC subway ride a serene albeit bumpy journey. There are cheaper alternatives out there, so look around. Just remember, foam earplugs!!

Wow..$200 to $500 for high end earphones!!

I will probably get those $13 units from Amazon that jeff posted.

Thanks for the info.

Another recommendation for earphones with earbud-like seals.
