Dell Inc. (DELL) will sell a notebook computer model at Sam's Club warehouse stores beginning next week, a company spokesman said Friday.
The announcement follows Dell's decision to begin selling two personal computer models at Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) beginning this weekend. Wal-Mart owns Sam's Club.
Dell spokesman David Frink said the Round Rock-based computer maker would sell copies of the Inspiron 1501 at Sam's Club stores.
The 1501 is a general-purpose notebook that usually starts at $649 but was offered Friday for $549 and up on Dell's Web site. Frink called it one of the company's most popular notebooks.
Some analysts panned Dell's decision to offer only two lower-priced desktop models at Wal-Mart stores. They said consumers want to see and touch notebooks before buying.

WILL THIS MEAN LOWER PRICES . or will Dell have a new sales slogan ? and a big yellow smilie face in its ads ?
im sure they ( DELL ) will sell more lower end machines this way .but will it hurt there higher price .higher profit laptop units sales ? and will they go the way packer smell (packer bell ) did years ago .
i hope in the walmart store by me .they clean up the laptop display case looks like trash . everything in it is just tossed in and sitting on top each other . when they try to sell the dell units .:throw:

drunk posting? i had to read it 4 times to understand it myself.
anyway, renov, if youre asking if it will lower prices, not exactly.
dell will sell notebooks via wm for a little less if not the same as what they can offer from their site. you wont see top of the line laptops from dell sold at a wm store, or even middle of the line ones. these are most likely entry level models.
and no, it wont hurt their profit margins at all. if anything its a win-win situation for both companies. if youre comparing it to packard bell, well, that was just poorly managed, so it died.
its just another way for dell to expand their customer reach. wm is the largest retailer in the world, and that means more people will get to see dell products (middle to lower class families), and dell hopes that will lure them to the website, where higher end models will be offered, and even more customizable features. plus ultimately if a sale is made, theres really no other support but to go to the site.
or return the laptop to the store (with wm's liberal return policy).
no there wont be a new sales slogan. dell didnt change anything when they finally used AMD chips. thats one HUGE step for them.
as far as presentation, there may be a dedicated booth for it. but face it, its walmart. you cant expect underpaid and overworked employees to care about products theyre supposed to sell. All wm cares about is to have whatever product they have out on the floor, regardless of how its displayed.
it seems to work well for them though, seeing as their annual profit alone is bigger than the gross sales of several other stores combined...
(wm is still despicable, imho).

all i was saying guys .is Walmarts slogan is roll back prices .and they use that smilie face in there ads .
also that my local stores laptop display case is trashed .everything in it is just tossed around and in disaray .
also will dell hurt them selfs by selling there bottom line . laptops though walmart .and not offer the general public mid level units to us though walmart . dell is a well know name to a lot of people today .but it sales have fallen .and they did this walmart teaming .to bring sales up and increase market shares .but it could back fire and hurt them . i hope they dont just offer low end laptops at walmart . and as was said they are displayed in show cases by them self not just more tossed in with others they have in the stores now .
also guys im sorry for the way i post. i type slower then im thinking and it turns into a mess when i post it . i will try and proof read before i post .its not that im drinking its just as said .i dont spend the time to proof read it before i post .

renovation, just curious. How did the whole space-before-the-period thing begin? There's gotta be an interesting story behind it. ;) Although it looks kinda interesting, I would work on that first. I know it's probably a hard habit to break, but it's definitely not helping you in getting your point across. It's crucial to know where sentences end, especially when you don't capitalize the first words in your sentence, which I understand is common in internet communication.
In terms of confusing/jumbled context, no need to even proof read. I would suggest just reading out loud each sentence as you type. If it sounds wierd when you say it, it's gonna be wierd when people read it. Not tryin' to grll ya, just giving a friendly tip.
Sorry guys, back to topic. Speaking of Dell laptops. I always wonder. Considering how popular they are for their low prices, if they could just incorporate the most minimal amount of design consideration they would sell even better. I'm not even talking beautiful design like macbooks or anything, just getting rid of the huge, stupid-looking Dell medallions on the top and simpler color schemes, maybe. Just a thought. But at those prices, I guess people can't complain.

renovation. as in: My grammar needs a renovation. ;)
I can actually understand him just fine. But then again, I lived in Alabama for a couple of years. :) Ren, I totally understand what you mean about the need for Wal-mart to clean up their act (and their display case) before they can consider profiting from an agreement with Dell. It would behoove Dell to come up with some sort of training module that was dumbed down enough for the typical wal-mart employee. I have seen Dell's normal training nodes. They are WAY too smart for the typical drop-out "electronics" sales guy.

No, nobody's saying that. It's just the space-before-punctuation thing that makes it very, very difficult to read, and subsequently to follow.
For example:
Renovation is a friendly and active member of Got |Apex .but sometimes his posting style ,because of punctuation ,makes it difficult to understand what he is saying .perhaps it was just a habit learned long ago .or perhaps something is wrong with his keyboard .either way ,just changing one keystroke per sentence would make his posts much more enjoyable to read ,and people would be more likely to read them ,think about them ,and contribute .

The second flows better, because it looks like everything we read in newspapers, internet columns, books, etc. The first is my "renovation" translation example. It's not that we're saying you suck or trying to offend, but we are trying to help you get your point across better. Just changing that one thing - hitting spacebar AFTER the punctuation - would make a huge difference and would be easier on everyone's eyes. :)
