S: Has anybody received a phone call from the number: (954) 636-2898? Apparently it comes from a timeshare company in Hollywood, FL. I have been receiving constant calls for the past 2 months or so with nobody answering and no voicemail option. When I try to call the number back I get a msg stating "This mailbox is full".
I looked this number up on google and found several people complaining about the same issue. Apparently some people called this company: "Summer Bay Resorts", but were notified that one of their automatic dialers have been stolen?
Can somebody suggest what I can do as a step to getting this resolved? this number has been reported several times in the donotcall registry for abuse ever since about 6 months back, but yet nothing has been remedied. Has anybody had a familiar situation and have any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks Markel. I, among several others have actually already filed a complaint here as well. I don't understand why the phone calls continue.

If you are on the do not call list I think you might be able to sue them. I remember about this one guy that made a pretty good amount of money suing telemarketers that called him.

I believe there is a $10,000 fine for violating the donotcall registry. However, I think certain criteria have to be met regarding the call. It has to be some sort of soliciting involved and the caller can't have a permission (Permission like checking off a box on a website that allows a 3rd party to contact you). The number that calls me just calls, and hangs up. I've made numerous phone calls to companies, regulators, etc trying to figure this out, but nobody is claiming responsibility or ownership of the number.
Summer Bay Resorts is aware of this issue but, they claim 0 responsibility, saying that people are using their name to try and scam people.
I called my wireless carrier (Verizon) regarding this and they said all they can do is change my phone number. I've had my phone number for 6 years, I do not plan on having the hassle of changing it. :boxing:

Sounds like if they can't just block it you're gonna have to deal with it.

I wonder if you can get some sort of caller ID filter.

Isn't it possible to block certain numbers? I think that's an option in cases of harrassment, etc. Maybe an operator could provide some info.

Yeah, I already tried asking Verizon to block this number but they said they are unable to do that. Hopefully all the complaints will make some sort of impact on this.:|
