My girlfriend is asking me about a mouse that if she clicks down on the mouse wheel, she can change the speed of the scrolling to be very fast. It sounds to me like any scroll mouse which has a push down scrolling button can be programmed for faster scroll, even though I haven't ever seen that I'm just thinking theoretically it should be possible. Does anyone know of a mouse that can do this?
Thanks bruthas.

I don't know of mice with multiple scrolling speeds on the fly...
I do know of mice that have "on the fly" tracking speed (like the Logitech G5 mouse)
Also, you can usually change the scroll rate of a mouse from 1 line, to 3 lines, to 6 lines at a time in the settings... but I haven't seen a way to adjust that on the fly.

My generic logitech optical "USB wheel mouse" (that's all it says on the bottom) has a feature that *sorta* meets that need.
When you click the scroll wheel, the cursor changes to a scroll cursor. You then move the mouse (not the wheel) up and down to scroll. A small movement starts a slow scroll (which continues until you return the mouse to center), and a large movement starts a larger scroll (which continues). You move higher or lower to scroll slower or faster. You click the wheel again to return the cursor to normal.

I would like to have one that's more responsive for that silly helicopter game I posted recently.

You gotta get one with a friggn' laser beam on it's head. :D
Do I still hold the record on that game?

Hmm, didn't see that helicopter, and was going to post what Paymaster said. But methinks DF's post is the best answer, that mouse looks good.

It has been standard with every scrolling mouse I've used.

I agree, hence I didn't consider it a "special feature" of the mouse as mentioned in my initial response (but I singled out Logitechs, because I gave up on Microsoft mice years ago).
However the G5 does have the "on the fly" sensitivity adjustment button.. thus my recommendation. :D
