Just won a battle with Sprint to tank my Sammy A900 (which has been defective for months - locks up when you go to "on demand" - have to take the battery out, etc., turns itself off and on at random, is slower than molasses at saving anything from phone numbers to appointments, etc.)

Now I'm getting the Treo 755p. Heard great things about it. Anyone else have any experience with it? Smaller, no antenna bulge, fast processor, no wi-fi, but Sprint's network isn't that slow and will be upgraded by the end of the year, so I can get new firmware, etc.

Other choice was the new "Mogul," but it's even more expensive than this spiffy new Treo. It has wi-fi, etc., but supposedly has poorer voice quality, etc. Already compatible with the upcoming broadband upgrade, though, and has, with the latest Windows Mobile, nav-software capabilities. It was a tough call, but since I use palm software for work on my Lifedrive, this made the most sense, I guess.

Mind you, this was after calling/emailing/calling/emailing customer service for months and months, being told my phone was crashing and turning itself off because I had the wrong plan, etc. Hell, when I called yesterday, all the service person wanted to do was give me $75 toward a new phone. And she tried to sell me an aircard for my laptop. She couldn't even tell me if it was an express card or a PCMCIA. Idiots.

But after email number 4 saying the same thing, and a quick online complaint to the BBB, I got a phone call within 2 hours from a nice person from customer retention.

Anyone with any experience with either of these phones? I think I made the right decision, as Treos weren't known for their reliability a year or two ago, but the new one is supposed to be pretty stable and solid.

Get the Mogul since HTC usually makes pretty good WM phones.

I'm partial to the Palm OS although nothing major has been developed for a while but it's a solid OS. WM6 is supposed to be better but no touchscreen.

If you don't like resetting/pulling out the battery don't get the Treo 755p. If you put basically any 3rd party software it will crash the phone at some point and if you don't have everything backed up, you will lose everything.

On the other hand, I own the phone and love it.

That's what I was wondering as well. Supposedly, the 755 doesn't have as many of the resetting issues. Plus, as it runs my software I use for work (lots of medical boring stuff,) I can leave my lifedrive at home.

Upon further reading, I've learned that the Mogul is REALLY slow, which is one thing I hate about my A900 (besides the fact that it turns itself off randomly, etc.)

So now I'm excited about my new blue 755p. It doesn't have WiFi, but if the Sprint network is around, that shouldn't be a problem. I just wish it had arrived before this weekend (I'm in MS now, heading to ATL tomorrow for a couple of days, and then to Asheville NC for a few days.) Just a week road-trip to visit friends. So I CAN use my A900 for mapquest, etc., maybe...if it doesn't crap out again.

Then again, I'm thinking of buying a Magellan 2000 tomorrow. The price has dropped at most major B&M stores to $250, like Staples, etc. Great reviews, does what I want it to, and I don't care about the stuff it doesn't do (like play MP3s or movies or whatever.) Should be a nice tool that should save me some time, along with my V1. I've been putting off buying a car upgrade (or really, anything) for a long, long time. This thing may just prove its worth in gas savings alone, though I do have a pretty good built-in compass.
