acer laptop problems

I have an Acer Travelmate 8100 laptop that has been great but just started giving me problems. A lot of times I cannot power it on. I press the power switch and nothing happens. Sometimes if I take the battery out and let it sit for awhile, then put the battery back in and press the power switch it fires right up.

I opened it up to see if the physical switch was not depressing completely but that doesn't appear to be the prob.

Anyone have an Acer or experienced this?

Not Acer, but I've seen bad batteries cause flaky problems like this on Dell & IBM machines. Does it work every time if the battery is physically removed from the machine?

Seems you are right...If I keep the battery out and use only the power supply I can't get it to replicate the problem. Must be the battery or bad connection.
Any recommendation on ordering batteries?

Unfortunately, the best option is also the most expensive - straight from Acer. I have not had really good luck with 3rd party batteries.

However, if the machine is less than a year old they MAY cover it under warranty.
