I took a blood test and I was told to fast 4 hours before. 5 hours before I ate a turkey and cheese sandwich and water. After I took the blood test I hear the staff tell other people either the results take 10-12 hours or you should fast for that time. You think it impacts the blood test significantly that I need to take it again?

You should always fast for at least 8 hours prior to blood work. Usually they tell you-no food after midnight if you're going to have your blood work drawn in the morning (8am-ish)..you should probably be ok though.

if the dr only want you to fast for 4 hours before. that should be fine test are sometimes order in diffrent ways. for you maybe your test was just a normal safety test for sugar. as the other person may of been testing for board line.

That's the way I always try to schedule my blood work - I just delay my breakfast until after the test.

Yes, it depends on what the Dr. is testing for. If for liver functioning for prescription of a medication, no fasting at all, however if for cholesterol levels and i also believe glucose levels or overall, 8-10 hours. Basically what you ingest affects test.
