Wow, I actually own the 3rd and 4th edition of that book. Scary what college does to you. But, you need to be an instructor and have a PhD. to qualify. Too bad teaching assistants don't qualify.

If you're going to try to scam them, DON'T get the Amazon GC. Get one of the textbooks and sell it back to a college bookstore. Lodish or Lehninger will fetch you about $50 easy. In any case, all those books are worth about $90 new.

That is one long survey.

I asked for the book, I hope I get it...

Dodge This: Do you feel any guilt over us screwing over your 'disciplinary colleagues?' I wouldn't , but I'm just curious. I say stick it to the textbook manufacturers!

Now that I actually looked at the survey in detail, I guess you can't get a textbook unless you are actually an instructor. Sorry if I screwed anybody up with my earlier post. I imagine they just send it to your university's biology department. So I guess you have to go for the GC. But, I'd say don't even bother to try if you don't have a *.edu address. I mean if I'm putting out a survey on a textbook, and I'm expected college-level instructors to respond, I'm going to expect them to use their school-issued e-mail addy.

fakesurfers: I don't feel any guilt over what other people do, but I won't contribute to this one. It's easy to validate which surveys are legitimate. It's easy to find out if someone is a prof at an accredited university. In the entire United States, I would guess there are about 500 instructors of molecular and cell biology. Almost 400 people have already viewed this post. If even a quarter of them filled out the survey, the publisher is going to know something is up. When they check those surveys, they're going to find a bunch of junk and no one is going to get anything.
