i dont go there at all .when you charge $3.00 for a cup of coffee or tea . thats crazy when it cost like 35 cents including the cup and any sugar or cream you put in it .
and they don't do all that much adverting to justify the selling cost's. i beleave we the general public should make a stand on companys .that just stick it to us in the rear were the sun dont shine .ok i know its hip to go to starbucks .but lets be real $3.00 for a cup of java .whats that work out to if you bought a gallon . if you go to starbucks stop bitching about the price of gas .the companys worst than any oil company .
said Monday it was raising prices for its coffee and other freshly made drinks in most of its U.S. stores by 9 cents this month, citing rising costs, including dairy products, energy and fuel.
In a statement issued after markets closed, Starbucks said the price hike will take effect July 31, bumping the cost of most drinks by about 3 percent.
The increase will apply to coffees, lattes, frozen Frappuccinos and some tea-based drinks, including fruit and tea blends made behind the counters in all of its domestic company-operated stores, company spokesman Brandon Borrman said.
The increase will not apply to bottled drinks or food, Borrman said.
The company's last price increase - 5 cents - took effect Oct. 3, 2006.
The world's largest specialty coffee retailer has nearly than 6,300 company-operated stores in the United States, plus about 3,500 licensed stores. It has almost 14,000 stores worldwide

I've never been to Starbucks and I probably never will. Home made tea beats them all.

i don't see why you need a boycott over them increasing prices. Everything costs more right now.
If you're going to boycott them, do it because their coffee really really sucks.

It's not like they are a monopoly or something. And it's a desire, not a need (like Jack Daniels)
People who enjoy their coffee will pay for it and people who don't won't.
It's capitalism at it's best.
Want cheap addicting coffee? Dunkin' Donuts! I also hear some people love McDonald's coffee

Is Starbucks to really blame or is it the consumer for increased prices. I vote consumer.

Unlike gas, you can prepare your own coffee at home...
Personally, I don't patronize StarBucks... so hey... if you wanna get fleeced by some overpriced coffee, go right on ahead.
Doesn't make me feel "less hip" since I don't drink their product. :D
Sounds to me like you'd need a change of venue if you feel so strongly about it. But you admit that you don't shop there, so why are your complaining about it?

And one of those people would be me. I'd take McDonald's coffee over Starbucks any day...especially at a fraction of the cost.

:stupid:
Can't stand Starbucks coffee, it always tastes burnt and acrid to me. For some reason people seem to think burnt (i.e. "strong" or over-roasted) coffee = more caffiene. Not true. Roasting degrades caffiene, so lighter coffees have more of it. I'd much rather have a light or medium roast coffee or espresso, with a bigger kick and better flavor, than that crap they serve at Starbucks.

As long as companies keep sending me those $5 and $10 gift cards, I'm still gonna go there!

35 cents? Maybe, though they do buy fairly expensive beans, so maybe not. What about labor, administrative, capital expenditures and leases? I don't go there but I sure don't agree that a company with barely a double-digit net profit margin is "sticking it to us in the rear." Johnnymk is right--capitalism has always allowed the public to vote with their wallets.

To me, Dunkin Donuts is the best.
And McDonalds use to be the worst; now it is very tasty. And at 69 cents is the best deal around.

It is amazing how many people go to starbucks and how many times in a single day. I remember reading some guy was angry about the new rasberry syrup and he went 2 times a day for years at like 3+ dollars. Yipes.
I've been once with a gift card and got some chocolate thing and a dessert, and my whole gift card was gone. Thats crazy...
But its a free world. If people want to give all their money to starbucks, its their choice. If coffee makes people happy in the morning so they aren't jerks at work, then perhaps its for the best for all of us.
To me, Dunkin Donuts is the best.
I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but man that Dunkin' Donuts coffee sure smells good. You know you can order DD coffee online too? :)

I'll have to try that Dunkin' Donuts coffee when I get a chance. I've heard a lot about it, but the nearest one is some 15-20 miles away.
I'm a fan of my local On The Run Bengal Trader's coffee. I'm normally a straight-laced, black Colombian roast guy, but they have this French Toast flavored bean.. wow. It's like a hearty meal in a cup. Great taste.
