My wife and I get married in November, 2004 and decide to build a new home, since we now have six kids together. So in March, 2005, we move into a brand new, 2,800 square foot home. Since this is a new development in Colorado, there is no Cable TV yet, so we decide to get Satellite TV. I call DirecTV to come out and install the dish. They send a guy out from their contractor, "Ironwood Communications", to install the dish on my new house. He drills a few holes into the side of the house, and then tells us he cannot install the dish on the side of the house, and that we need to get a pole for the dish. I asked him why he drilled the holes in the house if he couldn't install it, and he tells me to drive some nails into the holes to cover them up. I throw him off my property, tell him to never come back, and then have Dish Network come out and install their system.

Six months later, I get a "Late Notice" for past due money from DirecTV for an install and service in California. I tell them I don't live in California, I live in Colorado. I send them utility bills, paycheck stubs, mortgage payments, copy of driver's license, tax returns, and more to prove I live in Colorado. They keep pestering me to pay this bill. So I ask them for the information on the California install. Lo and behold, the California install had the EXACT SAME PASSWORD I gave them for the Colorado install. The password was a 'non word/number mix', so it could not have been coincidence. I also found out that Ironwood Communication is based in California. So what happened is that Ironwood Communication created a FAKE INSTALL in California using my name, SS number and password, so they could get paid by DirecTV. I explained this, over and over again to DirecTV but they would not listen and kept demanding money from me. So I had to pay them about $250.00 to save my credit report, plus another $100.00 in certified mailings I sent them over and over again.

So I will NEVER, EVER use DirecTV again. I got my parents to go with Dish Network. I have several rentals and I do not allow DirecTV to be installed on any house I own. Plus I recommend that no one ever use DirecTV. I laugh whenever I see DirecTV listed on Apex as a good deal. They have poor customer service, are predatory in nature and do not listen.

Yeah, I'm not sure why you paid the bill. Did you ever try contacting the contractor? They're more at fault than DirecTV is.

Agree with DF and Prngr, kinda sucks though, DirectTV has exclusivity for the Sunday Ticket. I'd follow advise from the others but since I love football and my team is not local I'm stuck with the use of DSS if I want to catch every game.
